Session 21: Scallywags of the Grey Coasts: Choppy Seas, but Friendly Pleas

General Summary

(Since Ilknar  is still captured, Hayden played Deoy.)

It is the 18th of Light, 698, and The Crew of the Horizon's Call finds choppy seas in the five days travel to Expedition One, and then on to giant ruins. They take this day to develop and solidify relations amongst themselves, and they also wanted to solve queries of choice and action by other members of the crew.

Deoy begins his day sneaking into Rognur and Skiff's perspective rooms. If they are going to drop his new possession into the sea, they he will drop one of theirs. He gathers much of Skiff's new art of Aikhon, practicing his for forgery skills needed for future criminal ventures. Additionally, from Rognur he takes the surgeon's personal chest, and he drags it on the main deck, screaming for the two to lay claim to the possessions. Skiff is the first to arrive, and he laughs it off as nothing, for these drawings are mere drafts. Scepsi sees this and darts below, knowing that Rognur may no take this seriously with out further explanation as Deoy is known to odd things for his entertainment and command of the crew. Rognur agrees, and he decides to approach stealthily from below, and then he times perfectly, hooking the chest through the port hole window below after the young grung Deoy drops it. It is after this, that Rognur returns to Ilknar's room where he actually hid the Iron Flask Deoy is so angry over losing to the seas, and he ties it to a hatchet with cloth, and he drops it to the depths of the sea.
Skiff, then goes below, and he tries to use Cpt. Hook's writ of privateering from Faces of the King to make Pojin (in name as captain), and The Horizon's Call, have the same writ to allow the Crew freedom amongst waters they would normally have to avoid.

Aikhon Dovah Rango takes this time, with his brother Brimstone's watchful eye and counsel, to identify items from previous ventures with magical rituals. He has found a crystal ball, and he and Brimstone use it to view Ilknar, hoping to find him alive. He is seen by them through the scrying spell--he is locked in a watery dungeon, something made for a much larger foe. He has been here for a few days, he remembers, almost two, and still he cannot find his way out of his cell. Skiff and Roland, with his crew, play some cards, and Roland wins much, along with some laughs and apologies for mistakes made about stowaways.

Given hope, the dragon brothers move onto next steps, and they begin interrogation of Cpt. Hook's first mate, Smee. He tells the group, Roland, E'krae, and eventually Skiff included (with Deoy in the wings until it is revealed the orcs that are housed in the brig currently, that they may also be plotting to escape and take the ship as theirs, if not at least get a row boat--Deoy spends the rest of the session watching over their 'safety'). Smee also let's them know of Hook's Fey past, his odd connection to his crocodile, and even about his obsession with the lost treasure of the former Storm King, some twelve years ago.

During this interrogation, after lunch of course, Rognur finds a way to make his bomb more into a gun attachment, so he can shoot the Tentacled Cortex that has spread fungal tendrils, mostly clear--maybe slowly taking control of the ship.

Finally, the continue their interrogations with Cpt. Hook, who inevitably is shot by a canon and thrown overboard. He tells them about his search for treasure, and how he works for the new Giant Queen of the Sea.

Aikhon cleans up this mess left over, the remains of Cpt Hook, and Smee helps Dosgratin make a new bourbon for the Cpt. Brimstone of the Call. Roland checks on his charge, the stowaway Z, and she had attempted to remove her bonds, so he asserts them. Aikhon also discusses with Teyos about the coral present in Ilknar's scry spell, and thus they are able to find a map, soon to be made by Teyos, to locate this area. She knows it is a place used by the Sahuagin, and a former domicile for Giants.

Finally, Rognur meets with elderly Nar, and hope is given to the hobgoblin for a scry, as well as a new friendship borne from a former devastator of the goblins of Claddenrow.
