Session 106: Scallywags: Infuria, the Admiral and A Dog
General Summary
The prepare before the Admiral meeting on the island of Infur, the capital of Infuria, lead by Uldin, a mighty warrior and human compatriot to the Grey Coasts, and by extension the King. Wulgar looks over his notes, for he wants to know who he is working with--he sees the Dovah kin with hard histories, tarnished by a chaotic father--a dragon full of it its elf as always; he sees a half giant, born out of the fall out of the fall of the Giant's Ordning, their caste system, and how Ilknar is the supposed claim to that seat; he sees them commanding a ship wrought from ancient scient and magic long forgotten from the Fall of Claddenrow. Now, he comes, a cleric of Om, ready to aid? To a new destiny? A purpose or claim for a new king? It is unclear at first.
Orran takes some time in the next early morning before the meeting with Admiral Uldin, and he befriends sea gull, and charms it with his divine connections to the natural orders of Barur and beyond, asking it to fly to the Admiral's chambers, to yes, essentially spy. He sees the Admiral in conversation with a young blonde-haired female Jarl, Astrid they learn later. She demands more ships to assist in the north, but the Admiral tries to avoid for now, saying he has another meeting later. He sends an armed guard to go look. The rumors of the Kings death have not quite reached his ears, but there is some news he expects to hear from the King any day now. Orran returns to this normal sight and he shares this information with Captain Brimstone. They confer and agree that the tensions are high, so they decide to bring their full entourage along to the meeting: Aikhon and Brimstone, Ilknar and Nethpion, Mila, Lady Sasha, Orran, and Wulgar. New insight, new eyes, new voices, and an Admiral stuck in a decision.
They leave the city, taking Lady Sasha's giant spider-drawn carriage, which is lead by her attendants Tim and Vrix. They trail through a sprawling city made of mostly stone, harnessed from a past of dwarven achitecture made anew, with large pillars, archways, and irragation systems down, above, and about them. They make quick time, the cobble-stone roads well taken care of, leading them easily to the Admiral's Palace. It is s a lofty structure, but they have all seen larger still in their travels.
They burst into the main chambers, quickly after being shown the way and waylaid for a few moments by a nervous guard. Once inside, the Admiral has his retinue, and the same Skaldyr that Orran saw before, now again demanding the attention of his fleet to the north. Seeing this interruptin, they also demand that the Admiral takes their full attention, but Ilknar and the others presence and words warn the Admiral Uldin, that he must meet with them separetly, in private. He seems to confer with his wife with but a look, and his many dogs about and around him bark and howl and the new presence within the room until he quiets them down. He is a warrior, armored and adorned, but one from a different day, and now he relies on others and allies to aid him. He dismisses the Skaldyr, and everyone else, after he wife leaves to find their son. He has few moments with the Scallywags, for the them to persuade for his aid, to show the head of the Fallen King Boveen. Then his family returns, with Aestrali his son's Telemachus' bride, and his wife Lady Penelope. They see the on the ground and react in kind, and the Lady Aestali begins to act very nervous, and still the Admiral refuses to give boats or aid, and debates for a moment about repairs. He agrees, and he turns to write script, and order, for that very purpose. However, when he turns back, he pulls in the Captain Brimstone closely to hide the truth: someone from the king watches here.
The game then unfolds as many look and wonder at this odd dance at least, and at the most the tension and anxiety from the Admiral Uldin, but also, it seems, from Lady Aestrali as well. Aikhon and Lady Sasha zero in no her, and eventually find that she has been concentrating on a spell to read the thoughts of others. She denies it, and when Orran moves closer, who has been playing with soot, and Lady Mila barks out her credentials as High F..ing mage, Aestrali seems to notice and recognize the gnome. She tries to escape, but the others stop and counter her magic, and they begin to interrogate her and her anxious self.
She eventually admits, under magical and physical coercion, that she came here under the guise, to yes, get Telemachus to fall for her, and she did, the truth and the irony, and for nigh on a year and half, about once a month, then about 40 letters have been sent to communicate with King, but really the Queen. She now also control the Collegiate Arcanum, where both Aestrali, Queen Jhusve, and Mila have been trained in the various arcane arts; the qeen now controls them all, and it is not long before the throne is in her control, too. They all fear this, and the tension in the room is palpable. Hearing this truth, he storms out, Telemachus, and his mother follows. Uldin agrees to give three dozen ships to the Crimson Fleet, but more of a plan will be laid, set, so that his son Telemachus can lead his own fleet with the Crimson Fleet, against the King and the Throne, the Wall and the Queen. The Grey Coasts? With this, the crew decides to hurry their travel along, plannings 8 days of travel directly east, not stopping until they are closer to the Wall and the King.
Beginning their travels, Lady Sasha gets some deception training in with some cards, Ilknar stays on lookout, and Brimstone works towards his athletics. Wulfgar also attempts, but does not succeed other than practice, to sneak up on Orran.
They also find a new dog friend, well one Sasha charmed during their time with the Admiral. This new Luna, she is called, is a new mascot for the crew, a pirate in her own right.
Wulfgar is also able to summon a ritual from the Goddess Om, one to regenerate the worn and scarred tail of Lady Sasha.
