Session 105: Scallywags: Crimsons in Infuria: "Have you seen my lump?"
General Summary
We retcon a little bit, with Roland about the leave the deck of the Call, and he is stopped by Brimstone, turning Roland by the shoulder. They appreciate each other, and they know they will aid each other where they can, but it is time to move, to make claim on what others have already try to take for themselves within the Regent Isles. Roland says a member of the Gambit will come to replace his needed arms in the battles ahead.
Ganoi is trying to help Vumpesh and others prepare for a key surgery to help Lady Sasha with this odd growth upon her tail; one that is painful, and probably linked to her future in a doom filled way. Lady Sasha notices in these 36 hours or so, here and there, that Princess Saerah is using her own aims to follow, spy upon, and probably, no, really, swoon over Ilknar. Before the surgery, Lady Sasha calls Ilknar into the surgeon's quarters to reveal this. However, something else fully takes over Ilknar's mind, a deep sadness or distraction of some sort, and when he hears of this possible love, when he has already at least spent enough time with Nethpione to fall for her, he simple hears and walks away. He cannot do more; his heart cannot handle more now. It must be related to Nethpione.
In the surgery room, Sasha notices Ganoi is very scared, and she comforts him with her hand upon his cheek. He asks if she wants him to numb the pain, and they try the most potent of alcohol, but being a yuanti, her snake blood makese her unaffected to the poison within her, but she drinks the hard liquor down. Dosgratin's best. The surgery begins, and it tests Sasha's sanity and constitution, but thankfully some of Ganoi's telepathic work was able to help her, a suggestion of endurance. And she does. Her tail is crooked to be sure, but she is ready to leave, ready to face the next adventure. Her tail eye is still intact. Alll will not see her odd lumpy tail, and eye to match.
Vumpesh leaves, and sets his goodbyes, hoping to get close enough to shore to hike his way back to Roland within the Regent Tower. Yet, he must say goodbye to his brothers aboard the Horizon's Call, but he is somewhat ashamed for leaving. However, when he meets in the captains quarters with Brimstone and Aikhon, he is comforted and directed back to his choice. Aikhon will take his brother Vumpesh by use of his voyager staff, and Mila will join, for she wants to ask Gyc one final question, something about another gith she met in the capital of the Faces of the King. She can help AIkhon return when able, saving time, and in a way resources. They teleport, and they find Roland and Gyc in the tunnels of the Devils Grin and lair, and near the end of an aggressive take over a small gang or organization. Vumpesh quickly gets to work letting his expertise poor over the storage and haul of this gang. The others, wait patiently, for Mila has questions for Gyc. He wants to know of Gyc knows of this red-scaled gith who has draconic horns. Gyc knows of a V'apan, a rider and servant of the mistress from long ago. He is a capable warrior, but not mabe one Mila thinks she should worry about. She joins with Aikhon again, and they say goodbyes to Roland, Vumpesh, and Gyc, and then the gnome High F...ing Mage teleports Aikhon and herself back to the Horizon's Call.
Upon their return with Mila's magic, they find the crew surrounding and engaging with an odd Elf. When they see this odd redhaired creature dancing, teleporting, and turin invisible all about the deck of the Call, weapons begin to be drawn, and battle stances are taken. The elf further confuses the crew of the Call, by stating he is here with the Queen, wanting to stop this whole set up. Arms definitely begin to be drawn at this point, and Mila moves in to not only disable his ability to teleport any more, casting antimagic field around her, but also grappling Orran, the elf, quickly to the ground. However, he soon introduces himself, reveals his true intentions as being the cohort to Roland, but also how he brings gifts for the others. Ilknar gets a picture and wine and flowers to give to his love, Nethpione; Orran even joins the powder crew after showing off his archery skills when Ilknar throws coins in the air for both he and his new commander, Auna, the master gunner of the Call. Orran also gives Aikhon his custom muzzle, Brimstone a bigger hat (maybe for more formal purposes), Sasha a heart of some creature (probably draconic--Long Mist's? [YES!!!]). Mila gets an apology note. And the other 30 crew each get 10 gp.
The crew then sails onward, to the Infur Island, the Navy of the King--lead by an Admiral. However, Orran wants to test the waters, and he skies barefoot--trailing behind the Call's wake, with George, Deoy, Firi, and eventually Teyos joining him. They surf and laugh, the skies bright above, for a few hours.
With this Brimstone takes the wheel, and the crew are all of the sudden on a succelent and bright beach, laughing too, playing yes, but also expering a level freedom they have not seen in some time. They are overjoyed, and Brimstone seems lost in this vision, something of the future, and hope and a dream. Then he is wading in the water, and he sees a silhouette of a humanoid on the beach. This creature is now above him, and he has fallen back into the water, not drowning, but still the celestial offers him aid to rise. They sit on the beach, and they watch the join and freedom from Brimstone's crew from afar. A future that might be lost.
Brimstone knows this is his deity, the god Tritherion, and he waits. The waves and freedom lap over him in a vision of peace. It is broken by the god's voice, and Brimstone looks him in the face, and he sees a vision of what Tritherion really is--a creature from another realm, a mortal at one time, but no more--now something so much more. This face blinds him, but also helps him see.
The voice of Tritherion asks: Are you ready?
Brimstone: Yes.
Mortals always say so. We shall see. We shall make yourself ready.
Brimstone blinks, and he has returned to the ship, still guiding the Call and its crew to the next venture.
The Fleet sails a few more hours, into the seas of Infur, and they begin the docking procedures. Once docked, two dwarves wait for them, both they do not know. One is the dockmaster, asking for 100g a day for the ships stay. Aikhon pays for two days. Meanwhile, the other dwarf stands defiantly waiting for captain Brimstone, a dragonborn, to come to him. The dwarf has a dark beard and a dark bearing, with magic shield, adamantine plate armor, and a holy symbol around his neck to one of the primordial eight deities. Brimstone comes over and they discuss. Where are you going? Who are you? The dwarf reveals himself as Wulfgar Ruvon, kin to King Borq, the former king of the Faces, and Cleric of Om, the Primordial of the Prime Light, the Mother of Dragons. The goddess has lead him her for a purpose, and he will follow that intentionality faithfully. The share stories of their times, but Sasha gathers her carriage, attendants other than Mr. Dewelling, and her giant spiders, and they go for a ride through the city. Ineed this is one of the strangest things Wulfgar has every seen.
After initial introductions, the crew prepare to meet with the Admiral of the Navy and Shipyard, but Aikhon needs some time to arrange this, so they take the day to explore the city. Mila and Nethpione go shopping, Wulfgar finds the libary with them, where Mila gets a spell scroll. She has difficulty finding its components. However, Wulgar takes time research and read.
Brimstone travels through the city with his entourage of crew, and his brother Aikhon, spending about 100g gold on carousing with the common folk, raising awareness and reputation for what comes next: the king's death announced, and the race for the throne. He is very successful, but his stories of the giants, of the Scions, of the Bloom, and then soon the king--Brimstone and the Crimson Fleet are a narrative force, and pivotal influence to the voice and action of the Grey Coasts, now especially.
Ilknar goes to be alone, and he finds a quiet beach upon the Infur island. He goes into the water, hoving alone underneath, and he soon notices that Orran has followed him, curious to this new king and his claim. He watches Ilknar begin a divination ritual, and he asks the see, but he return he hears the voice of the All Father, the lord of giants--but Ilknar asks--Is it true? Meaning, will he be before the Wall like the image of Boveen and his daughter, will Nethpione be sacrificed to make him king? "The Storm King must reclaim his throne. The sceptre is often bones. Not Always. Another can be given." Ilknar ignores Orran above and drifts in the water for many hours. When he returns to the beach, Orran follows, and the fey records the Giant King's name for future reference or bargain.
Wulfgar gets a guest room aboard the Call, and he takes time to seal it with divine twilight, and create his own Temple to Om. Once complete, he comes with the Prime Light, and he asks: Am I here to help? She responds, yes. Hopefully. Wulfgar continues to look over his notes over the ancestry of the crew's members.
They follow Aikhon's advice, and they wait one more day to meet with the admiral. They will have this diplomacy on their own terms.
