Scallywags Session 25: On the Sea of Scions: Training and Relations
General Summary
From the 10th of Fall Feather to the 14th of Fall Feather...
The first day is spent with the early morning in heavy rain and wind, and on the deck, as the Captain Brimstone and Aikhon meet with Mugrunden a gold dragonborn, and Lord Oreo Rhobroth a copper dragonborn, and they discuss the sidetracks and ventures planned far away from where they need to go. They discuss a cut of the booty gathered from the giant's Stormhold, and they do not find an agreement until more of the dragonborn refugees help out more on the boat.
Later in the morning of the 10th of Fall Feather, Ilknar has agreed to meet with the Surgeon of the boat, the hobgoblin Rognur. This is because Rognur is worried over any dark, arcane, or even abyssal marks, as the dragon queen were obviously tainted by bloodied magics. During this search, Rognur is able to find a bioluminscent layer of new skin or muscle beneath Ilknar's skin, intertwined along his spine. This is some sort of mark of the storm giant, a mark of his birthright; however, the giantkin is confused by his connections and really what he should do as the last surviving member of his royal line, as far as he knows.
During much of this day, Skiff is also training with his powder crew, and Kolos and Dardanos show themselves to be the most strong. Mauro also helps. Lastly, Skiff offers his new ring as a reward for another round of cards with his crew. Helene wins later on.
After meeting with Ilknar, Rognur and Roland discuss a potion or apparatus of waterbreathing despite Ilknar having the ability to ritually cast the spell.
Additionally, during this meeting, Barrelrider is awfully impatient, and he desperately waits for Roland outside the surgeon's quarters. They talk of a story of Roland's path, and a presumed greedy loyalty between them based upon truth and lies hidden from the rest of the crew. Roland seems unphased.
Later in the day, Aikhon meets with Ganoi and the young goblinkin is able to help the dragonborn see a memory of his growth into what he is today. He must seek the need to do good things, and Aikhon takes that with him as he rests and interacts with the others for the next few days.
Meanwhile, Thej crosses over to talk to Brimstone, and how he has a curiosity to seek his long lost sister in the lands of the Scions, now that he is his own captain.
Moreover, Skiff practices forgery skills and is able to craft some good likenesses.
When AIkhon returns aboard, he meets with Gyc, and they looks at modifications for crossbows.
After dinner, Brimstone asks for the Scallywags to meet at his table, and he asks about his vision, and who may have witnessed. Based on the Captain's description of the androgynous humanoid, they think is the god of freedom, from some ancient human or elven sect. Tritherion. Additionally, they discuss their next plans upon Torth's newly drawn map.
We then jump forward four days.
Skiff creates some masterwork forgeries, crafts a base for a long-lance, and trains with his crew.
Ilknar begins to learn a new language, Infernal. He also does research on the King's sceptre, and he learns that his undead sister may be the only one who knows where it is, being the last known person to wield the symbol of the Stormking.
Rognur takes some time for reflection, for with Nar the elderly hobgoblin wizard's help, he is able to scry on his wife and potential daughter. He follows his wife in the vision as she walks down larger alabaster halls, tailed by orc guards. He finds her then watching a training facility of orc, human, dragonborn, and dwarf--but mostly orc--training grounds. Deep within the throng of warriors and sweat, Rognur sees a young, dark red-skinned woman. Only then, does his wife finally smile before the vision disappears from the crystal orb. Aikhon waits outside, only seeing Rognur leave in a flurry, and being warned for his respect and silence by Nar's final words.
Aikhon takes the days to bond with the crew and to also help improve his current state of mind with more of Ganoi's telepathic help. He finds solace and words and actions from these few days and he connects with the crew well.
Roland during this time, well, he meets with Torth and Teyos to enjoy some tea, and he also wants to thank them for their involvement in Ilknar's saving. He also talks with Aikhon, and they are able to scry on the former stowaway Z, who has gathered a new keelboat and small crew; she travels north, but she is not alone. Many others from Expedition One now travel north to the remnants of the Falling Star. This is only because of their own greed.
Brimstone, during these four days, becomes more proficient in water vehicles, owning his captain seat. He also connects more with the dragonborn refugees aboard.
