Of Mountains and Giants

General Summary

Departing Achardirion's cabin the party head north then west into the passes of the Throal Mountain Range. The journey is long cold and fraught with bad weather. at one point the party are stalked by wolves but Hauflin manages to talk them down and help them find easier prey. Part way into their journey they come across a ruined tower with what looks like a camp setup in the ruin, but on closer inspection they find 2 large mutated beasts feeding on the hapless merchants. The party are forced to flee across the treacherous passes, eventually when they think they have enough distance Astra summons an earth elemental to dig them a small cave to hide in, there they spend a fearful night. Later they bump into a mountain giant, who after much tense negotiating and a few language barrier issues Ragnaros manages to talk into inviting the party back to his clan. Arriving at the giant clan the chief upon hearing that they count themselves allies of the Throal Kingdom greats them warmly and invite them to enjoy the feast. The party recount their adventures, sing, drink and make merry with the hospitable giant folk and wake up the next morning with awful hangovers. They continue their journey despite feeling ill and are ambushed by two of the mutated beasts the giant chief had called Ettin. unsure if they are the same ones as before and not wanting to risk fighting them Astra summons an Archon hound to distract one and Hauflin calls forth a sleet storm to cover their escape. One of the Ettin give chase but slips down a cliff in the sleet and Ragnaros uses the opportunity to behead the creature before the party run for it. The rest of the journey passes without incident and the party arrive back home in Ardanyan, to be greeted by their masters who wish to know what has happened these past months.
