Bringing the Dress to Krezk

General Summary

Excerpt from Seir’s Little Black Book (Session 7/29/21): Penned in Borokin’s hand, via dictation

Thoradin showed us the dress he grabbed. We decided to pay the tailor a visit to tell her we had a dress, and maybe for her to keep it.   It was around midday, so it wasn’t a good time to head out to Kresk. You, in an uncommon stroke of bravery, suggested we investigate the nearby tower that day, despite our exhaustion. Some of our group decided to while away the time me and Khaylen spent at the tailor’s napping, or otherwise wandering the city.   The tailor’s shop was, understandably, closed. I tried to knock but Khaylen insisted on sneaking in through a random door. The shop was empty, but the dress was there, in a half-finished state. There was some debate over what to do, but Khaylen just left a note saying that she didn’t need to work on the dress anymore and we left.   Back in the Blue Water inn, Thoradin went to go and get some sleep. He had a beautiful dream about falling, and controlling the wind.   O explored the city a little, and saw some pastures, as well as some signs of general strife. It seems like the city was destabilized somewhat by the Baron’s fall, as people now came to the realization that they weren’t safe from the outside. She also encountered an area that seemed to have signs of a scuffle, but with some half-eaten pie on the ground around them.   There was a guardpost, unmanned. She snuck in and looked around. She found a deck of cards, with art inspired by a fortunetelling deck.   Khaylen, Zin, and I returned to the town square, to investigate what was up and regroup with the group. Khaylen investigated the square, and found surprisingly few dead bodies (except for those done in by Izek). The place was deserted, so we moved the bodies somewhere less obvious and I covered them up.   We all met at the blue water inn and got everyone up to go to the tower. We couldn’t find Letho, so we tried to ask Irwin about it. He seemed a little upset, but directed us to the backyard, where Letho was passed out. He was quite woozy but we were able to get him up. Khaylen said she thought he had a concussion.   We started our journey towards the tower a bit after midday. At the Luna river crossroads, we found a snapped half of a signpost. It had an arrow pointing south towards somewhere called “Berez”. I’ve never heard that location name before, so I filed that information away to ask about later.   We continued towards the lake along the NW path. Along the way, we saw some wolf tracks, though none looked recent. Letho summoned a steed, a giant elk. It was a bit of a troublemaker, but a beautiful animal. He told me they communicated via elvish, though it used some archaic terminology that he wasn’t familiar with it. He told it, “I’m not feeling so good, follow the short one”.   As we moved, Zin noticed something in the trees- a wooden platform, perhaps 10 ft tall, with a ladder leading up to it. A tent stood atop it. Zin went up and checked it out while Khaylen offered cover. Zin found a small lean-to with a few blankets around on the floor and a small, locked chest. He tried to pick the lock but froze when he noticed who was approaching: The two wolf hunters we encountered so many eons ago, that Letho tried to hire as mercenaries.   Khaylen started talking to them, drawing them over to the road and alerting us to their presence. They asked Khaylen how she had noticed their camp, and she started trying to explain things away. Szoldar showed Khaylen a few squirrels that he had successfully hunted.   Yfginni climbed up into the tent and saw Zin up there though, of course, he didn’t say anything. Zin tried to intimidate him into letting him go, but Yfginni was more confused than anything else. Szoldar asked him what he was doing, and he lied and said he was taking a nap. I tried to pierce the awkwardness by asking the hunters about if they’ve seen any dangerous creatures. They visibly relaxed at my question.   They found tracks of many wolves nearby, but nothing recent. They criss-crossed, as if they were… searching. They said that, on this side of Lake Baratok, there were fewer werewolves. We also told them about what had happened in Villacki, and they talked about returning to the city. They unlocked their chest and removed some weapons, as well as a tiny book that Yfginni quickly stowed away. I wonder what was in that… perhaps it was for communication?   Szoldar also told us that the tower was supposed to be empty, but is full of dangerous wards. Supposedly he met a wizard once, north of lake Zarovich, and it wasn’t a good experience. He told us that, if we needed to stay overnight, we needed a raised tent, and the world was safer in the east.   Eventually, we all got to the lake. It was cold and mostly enclosed by misty woods and rocky bluffs. There was no wagon.   Somehow, it was nightfall. But we hadn’t been travelling for that long.
