The Mists

Geography

The Mists surround the Valley of Barovia, encasing its inhabitants in an inescapable prison. The Mists themselves contain a void endless space that can only be summoned and navigated by the Vistani, with some exceptions. It is implied that The Mists exist beyond Barovia, and may lead to other places as well.
The Mists seem to operate with some degree of control. They often seek out wayward beings and lost objects to consume, and form symbiotic relationships with entities such as the Death House who lurk within it, working together to destroy and corrupt.
