Rhugaerian Order

The Rhugaerian Order is the largest and most powerful sect dedicated to the worship of Dorza in Edresh. They focus on Dorza's control over the process of death and the grave. Across the human lands, the Rhugaerian Order administers funeral rites, cares for the dead, cares for graveyards, and fights the scourge of undeath.

Tenets of Faith

Death is a natural part of life

Worship

The final step in the training of the clergy, be they clerics or paladins, is the ritual of Dorza's Embrace. At dawn, the aspirant drinks a brew prepared by the priests. They then enter a coffin and are buried alive. Under the effects of the brew, the aspirant faces their greatest fears. A string runs from inside the coffin to a bell above ground. They can ring the bell at any time if they wish to quit the ritual, but to do so is to admit they are not worthy of joining the ranks of Dorza's blessed. Those who master their fears are exhumed at dusk, reborn as servants of the Twilight Goddess and Keeper of the Grave. It is from this ritual that Rhugaerians are commonly known as Graveborn.

Granted Divine Powers

Paladin members of the Rhugaerian Order favor the Oath of Devotion, although there are a number within the ranks that take the Oath of Vengeance. Clerics of the Rhugaerian Order tend to focus on Dorza's dominion over the grave.
