Palum ('Pah-luhm)
Palum is kingdom encompassing the Lukosian island chain and the Trelefantine penninsula. It is ruled from its capital city of Spyridon on the main island of Pallum, from which the kingdom first expanded. Founded by shipwrecked sailors who intermixed with native peoples sometime in the late 300s BF, the kingdom is now a small but prosperous nation with influence throughout the known world.
Pallum is known for its sailing fleet, both merchant and otherwise. They are known for having the arguably the best navy in the world, and are heavily recruited to sail as privateers for other countries. The Pallumian corsairs are the scourge of the seas, and are wide-ranging and fast. The kingdom itself is prosperous, with citrus fruits (primarily lemon and pomegranate) and palm oil as its primary exports. The people are said to be hot tempered and quick to anger, but oftentimes this brashness is a front put up as a defense mechanism (made even stronger by the fact that people believe it about them). Pallumians by and large value personal freedom and the ability to enjoy each other’s company. They do not seem to care too greatly about the fairness of things around them as long as they are free to do as they please. At the same time, Pallumians can be stirred by a sense of bravery, as despite their laissez-faire attitude towards most things, they value showmanship and bravery.
Climate
The kingdom has a Mediterranean climate, with dry, hot summers and mild, wet winters.
