Shortly after his return to Vaasa, Prince Vasilej would become embroiled in yet another quest after the assassination of Boyar Igorr Relkov, Maksym's father, by unknown assassins. On the orders of Knyaz Markus, Vasilej and the Bogatyr would travel to Rolovsk to investigate. On the way back, the Bogatyr were ambushed from the assassins, who were from a shadowy assassin order known as the Telos Brethren. Worse still, the Telos Brethren were found to be working for a mysterious benefactor called the Usurper. Returning to Palischuk Castle, Lorina would be saved from an assassin's blade by Vasilej.
  After the assassination of a Warlock Knight prisoner in the dungeons, Vasilej, Lorina, Ivin, Bertryll, and a revenant named Iram would slay Lieutenant Baigan, the Varangian dungeon warden in Palischuk Castle for being an agent of the Usurper. During the fight, Baigan would morph into a crocodilian-like demon with snakes for arms, the Usurper's blessing. Baigan would be found to have associates, including the parish priest of Palischuk, Father Valdemar, who would be brought to justice by the Bogatyr. With Baigan and Valdemar eliminated, the network of assassins in Palischuk had ended, for now.
