The Pravdan Church
Pravda, meaning "truth", in the old Vaasan tongue, is based primarily off the tenets of the Gospel of Mercy, monotheism, and aversion to magic. It is the primary faith of the Kingdom of Palischuk, the Tuaksin Cossacks, and the Rossodnoye Cossacks. Adherents are called to treat one another, even their enemies, with mercy and compassion even in the face of danger. The Pravdans worship Gospod, who revealed the Gospel of Mercy to serfs under the oppression of the Warlock Knights in the town of Obnigrad with an assurance that one day they will be free from bondage. Another truth that Gospod bestowed on the Pravdans is that the reason behind the world's suffering was the myriad of gods that used people as pawns in their game of betrayal. To the Pravdans, to take what the gods derive their power from is to free the people of Toril from being the puppets of gods. This includes magic, which derives its power from that which is not Gospod, an abomination to sentient life as proven to them by the Warlock Knights. Power bestowed by Gospod however takes place in the form of miracles and blessings, which is earned through obedience and growth in the Pravdan faith.
The Pravdans do not seek to convert adherents of other religions, instead seeking to show the peoples of the world that by the fruits of their lives they can live fulfilling lives of holiness and put an end to the cycle of death and destruction. One way they accomplish this is through the knights of the Palischuk Druzhina, who become paladins and fighters-at-arms by defending those who cannot defend themselves; the Druzhina are the warm hand of mercy in the cold expanse of the Vaasan tundra. The leadership is known as the Troika, a tribunal consisting of the 3 most devout and faithful clergy of the entire Pravda.
