History
The Hawking Engine was developed for use in 2059 and saw its first use on NASA's Zephyr space probe, launched the following year. Data from the probe revealed the existence of complex lifeforms on the third largest moon, later named Kanaloa after a Hawaiian water god. A manned American survey mission was launched in 2068 with the European Union and a combined Japanese-Korean effort beginning in the early 2070s. The data from these surveys was used to select colony sites and migrants from across Earth began arriving
in the 2080s.
