Silver City is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marquez Manufacturing of Davao. The Chief Operating Officer of the city is appointed by MMD's Board of Directors.

History

The original concepts behind Silver City were the founding principles of the Antonia Group in 2066, created by the merger of four mid-size construction and civil engineering companies across Earth. These corporations were intrigued by the ideas of a new form of urban planning and decided to put theory to practice. After several projects with increasing success and the start of colonization of Kanaloa, the Antonia Group won a bid held by the United Nations Council on Extrasolar Settlement to design and build an Alpha tier city to act as the economic and political hub of the moon.   After an extensive geological survey, a site was chosen on the island of Arihi. Silver City's development would entail creating entire industries to facilitate construction as the costs of importing materials from Earth would render the project unfeasible. Construction began April 17, 2086, almost 20 years to the date of the Antonia Group's creation. Immigration to Kanaloa had been sponsored by many different countries and corporations with the majority being funneled through Silver City while several secondary sites emerging later.   The enormous cost of in situ construction, however, was to be the ultimate downfall of the Antonia Group. Many industry observers heavily criticized the project as poorly organized and managed. More and more profitable assets and subsidiary companies were sold off to continue financing Silver City's development. Ultimately, the board arranged a takeover of all company properties and operations (to be continued in whole) by Marquez Manufacturing of Davao in 2108.
