Lodestar Spire

"One cannot deny the iconic impact of a tower on the open planes constantly pouring out divine azure light; A bit on-the-nose, but I suppose the desperate rarely appreciate subtlety." -Chief Archivist Khasvin Ai'Rhent
Lodestar Spire or more colloquially the Beacon is the focal point and namesake of the city-state of Beacon. A ruin of debated origin forms the base of the tower, with the expanded complex and the remaining height of the tower consisting of a crude reconstruction effort. The tower is known throughout the continent and beyond, owing its fame to the brilliant blue light atop its peak, a feat of the city's patron god. Situated on the coast of the Grand Delta, the tower stands as the tallest structure for hundreds of miles.  As a symbol of both the have city of Beacon and the Pewter clasp, the tower stands as a symbol of hope and healing for many people, inviting those in need to find comfort in the city-state.   The tower stands 186ft above street level and 219ft above sea level. The ground floor of the temple consists of a slightly recessed floor, two stair cases, and a center atrium. The outer staircase runs counter-clockwise, leading up 60 steps to the upper level of the tower complex. The inner staircase leads directly to the top of the tower, consisting of 300 steps with a landing every 30 steps. The entire tower complex consists of 18446 square feet of space.   Lodestar Spire's signature feature is the cascade of brilliant blue light cast from the peak of the tower. The peak of the tower consists of a chamber containing the city's patron god, the Pewter Clasp, with a series of mechanisms built into the walls of the chamber.  These mechanisms work to slowly rotate a series of panels, occasionally allowing a beam of azure light emanated from the deity to sweep across the local plains.  These signals have served to draw the lost to the city over many centuries and is credited with the city's growth and prosperity.  As a symbol of the power and benevolence of the Pewter Clasp, those with knowledge of the Sons of Baithasz recognize the importance of healers in the city's doctrine as well as the principles of universal hospitality and protection.   The reconstruction of the tower began in the earlier years of the Age of Reclamation as a settlement effort by the same group of refugee-pilgrims that would come to found the city of Beacon. At the time of their arrival, the tower was occupied by a small contingent of holdouts from the Aelyrn faction of the grave sovereignty. Harsh weather conditions forced the refugees to seek shelter in the tower and the adjoining ruins, forcing a bloody conflict between the two groups that would last a number of weeks. The conflict was reportedly decided when the pilgrim's chronicler ascended to godhood, forcing a retreat of remaining holdout forces. Initial reconstruction efforts took the form of hasty fortifications, incorporating and cannabalizing nearby ruins into the base of the modern temple complex before erecting an extension on the ruined tower as well as a platform for the city's new patron. Modern construction would not be completed until centuries later following further establishment of the city.
