Halivaara

Halivaara is an enormous amalgamation of tents and light wood structures that serve as the backdrop to the different workshops fixing, reparing, and building demon engines. It sits right on the border between Ewhon and the Nine Fingers and its multicolored cloths can be seen from miles away and the smells of sulfur and gunpowder and the sounds of the soul engines can be heard and smelled from dozens of miles away. Its inhabitants number anywhere from 250k to 500k depending on the time of year and the number of tribes waiting for repairs on their demon engines. Although the building style of lightweight wood and multilevel tents is common across the Nine Fingers what is less common are the ramparts that surround the city on all sides but the one attached to the river. This is due to the importance of this city as both a safe hub for tribes to take refuge in but also as a commercial route for agricultural goods coming from the North and metallic goods coming from the South.
Recently however, the city has been overrun by the Cult and the casualties are still mounting each day as pockets of resistance are snuffed out by the overwhelming tides of mosntrosities. Currently the death/dissapeared toll is around 413k but the tactical cost of having lost such a key point regulating the traffic between the North and the South could be even worse. The siege of Halivaara also marks the first time higher Cult lifeforms have been spotted in the form of lumbering siege beasts capable of bringing down walls and entire houses to a winged creature the size of an airship which seemingly controlled the Cult's invasion plans.
