Letter from Uriel

My dearest students,   I hope that you find this letter, and that you are in good health. I must apologise firstly for not being there to meet you in person. The current situation made it impossible for me to stay any longer, not without putting myself at risk, and urgent mattters have demanded my attention elsewhere in attempting to slow down the plans of my enemies, one of which you have already met; Hazirawn.   If you arrived back, then that means the anomalous environmental conditions did not prevent your arrival; of which I am glad. However, I must warn you and urge you to flee the area with all due haste. No doubt that by now you will have noticed the strange anomolous storm encompassing the area. Its origins seem to be coming from somewhere in the Wastelands, but its nature an origin is a mystery. But be wary, this anomalous storm affects magic and magic casters the most. Before I realised the dangers it posed, several members of the village collapsed dead after bursting into flames from its effects. At the moment I cannot offer any answers on what this storm is, or what precisely is causing it, but maybe by the time you find me I shall have some answers for you.   Please be assured that after the threat to the village was brought to my attention, I wasted little time in evacuating those willing to leave to locations further afield. Your families are safe, and none were affected by storm adversely before their evacuation.   Secondly, I must apologise for putting you in the situation that you are in. The portal I opened was meant to send you six months into the future. However, without the apparatus I had made for the nexus crystal in my workshop, I could not accurately control the power fluctations along with the other calculations I needed to process. Assuming you were not sent into the past or met your demise at my lack of ability, then you must have arrived sometime in the future. At the time of writing this letter, nearly five years have passed since I sent you through that portal on the night of the harvest festival. This situation will be undoubtedly confusing, and equally terrifying for you I'm sure. But you are my students, and I know you can handle yourselves and see yourselves to safety. Given that I need to evacuate for my own protection, I cannot guarantee that I will ever be able to return to update this letter, should you ever find it.   Finally, I must apologise for requesting your aid once more. As I mentioned briefly, I have been training you so that one day you would be able to help me in defeating my enemies. Enemies which also pose a threat to you, your loved ones and this world. I do not know what they are planning exactly, or if they are the ones who have summoned this storm. I am currently investigating their actions so that I can attempt to thwart them. If you can find it in your hearts to forgive this old fool for the mistakes he has made, and agree to aid me in this endevour, then please come and find me.   While I will be making journeys all over the world in order to stop the coming threat, I will also be attempting to investigate this anomalous storm that threatens the world. My primary research station for this will be in the town of Than'crak; the Southern most settlement in the the region East of the Zangarian Mountain Range which are commonly referred to as the Badlands. If you can find my research facility there, then we may be able to meet once more. Unless the storm forces me to abandon the workshop in the meantime. If that happens, I shall leave another letter much like this one in the hopes that you will find it.   If travel to the Badlands seems far too risky, then please seek help elsewhere. I have an associate located far to the West in the Grasslands who will be able to help you by the name of Zeus. Let them know that I sent you and they shall provide you every courtesy and aid you could possibly want.   Alternatively, you can travel to either Mara'-jak'il or Yanzomien, you will be able to find aid from individuals there I have befriended who may be able to put us in touch with one another. In Mara-jak'il find Betty Sue. She is a proud and noble dragonborn, who runs a quaint establishment by the name of the Wandering Wizard. In Yanzomien a gentleman by the name of William Vermond, a human scholar, works out the academy in the city there.   Only in the most dire of consequences should you seek out the aid of the next individual that I mention. While they were the ones who put me on this path, and were the reason I was able to find talented individuals such as yourselves; you cannot trust them. While we both seek to stop the actions of my enemies, they undoubtly have their own agenda. I do not know exactly where you can find them, but if you do I must reiterate the importance of seeking them out only under the most dire of circumstances. They go by the name, Azure the Blue. Yes, they go by the same monkier as the name of this world we call home.   Lastly, please make use of anything you can find in the tower for your coming journeys. Whether you decide to help me, or simply try and find a safe haven to try and live out your lives in peace, I wish only the best for all of you. I also slipped an item into one of your backpacks that I'm sure will provide you some aid on your journey. It is a key, not unlike the ones you have seen me use on countless occasions. But this one is unique, in that it does not require a specific doorway to be used. Providing a door has a lock requiring a key, it will work. Having such an item will likely garner you attention if you carelessly use it in the open. There are plenty of selfish and less savoury individuals who would not hesitate to use violence in order to possess such an item.   I owe you answers to your many questions, and I promise you that you will have them if you can find me.   Sincerely, Uriel
