31: Quickpaw Tribe Report

General Summary

The party left Barerun, tasked with delivering a letter to one of the wolf-kin tribes explaining what happened in Barerun. After checking the map, they decide to head to the closest Wolf-kin village; the Quickpaw tribe.
Enroute to the Quickpaw Tribal Village, Icarus smells a strangely sweet scent while on watch. Believing it to be blood, the curse of his cloak making it smell sweet to him, he decides to ignore it for now. The next morning, the party decide to investigate the smell, sending Liath off to scout the area. Liath determines the approximae lcation of the scent, however they cannot see what is causing it. They head towards the location Liath has indicated and begin to explore. In a cave, they discover a rare type of mushroom that produces sap that acts as a combination of a potion of healing and a goodberry. So they take an entire day out of their journey to harvest and transplant some of these mushrooms into the mansion. They manage to harvest and transplant 7 of the mushrooms. This process takes most the day to achieve.
After arriving at the Quickpaw village, they discover that the village are recovering from an unprovoked assault from an unknown individual they have labeled 'The Black Devil". The black devil is a humanoid figure with large black wings and uses a katana and summons flames while fighting. 8 wolf-kin are dead, and the party helped to heal the 12 injured ones. While the surviving wolf-kin deal with the injured and put out the fires, their leader discusses their next step with another visitor to the village. Zaraki Kamir.
The party take some time to help save the injured wolf-kin, saving all of them and preventing further deaths. They then speak with Zaraki and the chief, and volunteer to help them track down the assailent who their scouts report fled to the Whispering Woods. When they arrive at the woods, night is beginning to fall. However, not wanting the devil to flee and escape, they push into the woods. After about an hour, they hear something moving in the woods around them, and realise that they are being hunted. They take on a defensive formation and are assaulted by a pack of Displacer Beasts.
