Adrausii Coffee
Adrausii Coffee is a specific type of coffee made from beans grown in the southern regions of the Empire of Adraus. It is renowned for its richly bitter and refined flavor among the Adrausii, but most other people find the drink far too bitter to palate. It is usually served with cream and possibly sugar when available. This type of coffee is provided as a part of the Adrausii soldiers' rations, and soldiers have been known to protest when the coffee is not included due to shortage. The coffee is given to soldiers as a powder of pre-ground beans in a large cylindrical tin. The tin has a screw cap due to the multiple incidents involving spilled coffee grounds getting into vital equipment.
The Coffee Industry
The growing of coffee plants and the production of coffee is a small, but profitable industry in Adraus. Several hundred thousand Adan pass through the hands of the coffee growers, roasters, grinders, and packers each month. Coffee is a hard to grow crop in Adraus and, as such, is an expensive affair. Most Adrausii coffees are heavily roasted before being ground and packaged for consumption, which is also an expensive process. The usage of dragonfire to roast coffee beans is rarely used, and beans roasted in this method always go for a far higher price than oven-roasted beans.
