The Celestial Barrier

Summary

As the Creator Gods defeated the Betrayer Gods and won the Celestial War, most of them were distraught in the aftermath after over a century of fighting. With several Betrayer Gods banished or imprisoned to their dominions and the rest forced to return under submission in defeat, the Creator Gods were able to finally take stock in their current situation. Several of them retreated away to their homes in order to find respite and others being helped and hidden away in hopes of recovering from their mortal wounds.   A few remaining Creator Gods to time and walked the world of Azera, witnessing the pure carnage and devastation that was left in wake of their own fighting. In the shock of doing equal harm as to what they were intending to stop in the first place, they decided to create the Celestial Barrier. This barrier, infused with the greatest of divine powers, would limit the influence the deities, on both sides of the war, would have on Azera. They did this in hopes of never repeating the same mistakes that caused the Celestial War on their end and hoping that the mortal world would learn from these events as well.   How long the barrier will last is unknown to the pantheon and its wisest of deities. Though they all hope that it will never collapse for fear of the start of the second celestial war. As the mortal world adapts and evolves on its own, with the little influence of the pantheon, none can tell if mortal kind will eventually be able to tear down the gate themselves or adjust it to their likings. For now, the barrier remains standing protecting the mortal world from the gods.

Historical Basis

The Celestial barrier is not a corporeal thing, thus evidence of its creation and existence is still widely in debate amongst the various religious sects and historians of Azera. However, it is known that the interactions with the pantheon have diminished significantly sometime around the suspected construction of the barrier.

Spread

Unlike the Celestial War, the barrier is far less commonly known in general as well as in detail. Only those with greater education or advent faith are aware of the mythos surrounding this suspected construction.

Variations & Mutation

As a debated subject amongst the clergy, learned, and elites of society there are multiple variations on the subject. Some believe it is an actual barrier, like a fence, that blocks the deities from interacting with the mortal world, while others believe that it is just a metaphor for the lack of interactions between the populace of the time and the deities.

In Art

As scarce as the knowledge of the Celestial Barrier itself, there are few pieces of art of the myth. Some depictions of the construct can be found in murals and paintings in some of the larger more prominent temples around the world as well as some of the overly affluent and religious elites abodes.
Date of First Recording
