Azera

As the first creatures swam the oceans and walked across the continents of Azera, the world was forever changed. When mortal beings formed groups and built societies around them, the knowledge of the world expanded. These early groups would form the initial civilizations that populated the planet. Each with their own cultures, beliefs, and perspectives on this vast unknown new world. However, the envy and ambition of these civilizations and peoples would quickly become their downfall. As they claimed more for themselves and fought one another many perished in the flames of these conflicts.

The deities of creation who helped form Azera, along with the primordial beings, watched as the lesser mortals on Azera fought endlessly against one another. Some of these greater beings and deities found the futile conflicts amusing and entertaining as they encouraged and subtly influenced the peoples into continuing their fighting. The other deities, who watched in anguish and sadness, as their children died for unjust and unnecessary causes, banded together against the primordial beings and the remaining deities who relished the carnage. This was the beginning of the Celestial War, waged in the heavens, hells, and on Azera itself with legions of followers flocking to their deities in support of their cause. This war went on for over a century as each side continually fought, suffering many casualties along the way in hopes of attaining control of Azera and molding it in their preferred vision.

In the aftermath of the Celestial War , Azera was left in ruin, barely able to sustain life with the scars of the battlefields left across the world and millions of corpses scattered across them. As the remaining deities realized the destruction left in their own wake, they retreated back to their personal dominions and erected the Celestial Barrier. The barrier, infused with divine power, limited the influence that a deity may have in Azera, severing the strong ties each had with the world in hopes of preventing the chaos and devastation from happening once more.

Nearly four centuries have passed since the war of the gods and the construction of the Celestial Barrier. Since then Azera has slowly recovered to its previously bountiful state as well as the resurgence of the humanoid species. Knowledge of the previous era passed down through the generations of the survivors has influenced the ideologies and beliefs of many throughout the world. However, due to the nature of various species the ambitions, envies, and greed of the past have continued into the new age. Conflicts arose and societies clashed for land, people, and power. With a large portion of the world still untamed and unexplored, large ruins and ancient battle sites still hidden throughout the continents, and people and nations vying for control and domination, everyone has the potential to be written in the history books. Making a name for themselves, achieving their heart's desires, and staking their claim in the world of Azera.
