The People of Az-Atla
The people of Az-Atla are diverse and varied, however through the years four predominant races have risen through their glorification to the Realm and the Devouring Mother.
The first race is that of Elves. Elves are not populous in number, but they are the most influential and powerful. They fill the ranks of the Paragon and guide the administration of the Realm. It is rare to see an Elf who is not rewarded for their merit.
The second race is that of Dwarves. Dwarves are more common than Elves. Many hold positions of civic authority and rank in the Paragon. They have sacrificed much in glorification of the Realm and Devouring Mother. Some say their sheer inborn stubbornness enables them to make decisions that others would hesitate to make when required to by the Law.
The third race is humans. Many are the number of humans in the Realm. Their short life span infuses them with a sense of frailty which motivates their innovation and creativity. Through their guided exploration of the Realm, art, and industry, they continue to glorify the Devouring Mother by maintaining the wealth and expansion of the Realm.
The fourth race is that of Orcs. There are many threats in the Realm to its glory. Terrible threats. When all recourse fails, Orcs never do. They are the defenders of the Realm and Devouring Mother. Orcs lead the Realm’s armies, and the majority of the Defenders are Orcs. They are brutal and not afraid to sacrifice what is needed to keep the Realm safe.
The other races play various minor and supporting rolls in the Realm. Individuals are always the exception as is the way of the Devouring Mother, because all who work hard and sacrifice will live well. So, remember regardless of who you were born to, you can be that exception.
