Personal history
Thallian grew up on his family's sheep and goat farm in Flocksfield in the nation of Berk. The farm produced wool and cheese, which was primarily sold to waystations within the Alta Pass, as well as to inns and grocers in the cities at both ends of the pass, and to private buyers in Flocksfield.
Just before his seventeenth birthday, Thallian was attacked by a farmhand. Acting in self-defense, Thallian used magic for the first time, producing a ward without training. This protected him from his attacker, who fled, but led to his ultimate banishment from the family farm due to the local fear of sorcery and magic in Flocksfield. His father, Uprine Fieldsman, arranged for him to travel through the Alta Pass and on to Algoma City to be trained in the use of his magic at The Magic Institute. This was something Thallian's mother, Amalia, had been able to secure for him, as his father had not wanted to grant him any assistance.
Four days later, he began his journey to Algoma City.

Education
Thallian recieved a basic education from a private tutor, along with his brothers. This allowed him to learn about reading, writing, mathematics, and law related to trade both within Berk and outside it.
Employment
At the time of the discovery of his magic, Thallian was working on his family farm. He worked as a lead farmhand, supervising the work of the hired hands and ensuring all equipment was kept in working condition and all the animals were healthy. It was expected that he would continue in this position after his father's death, as his brothers would inherit the more important jobs.
Mental Trauma
Being kicked out of his family home and being sent to find his way to Algoma City alone had a significant impact on Thallian's mental health. The need to belong and feel loved quickly became a major subconscious motivator for him.

Motivation
Thallian's main motivator is finding a place where he belongs, now that it is no longer the place where he grew up. He hopes a new city and learning to use his magic will help him accomplish this.

Family Ties
Thallian's parents are Uprine and Amalia. He also has two brothers. His grandmother had magic, though no one else in the family did. It was from her that Amalia learned of the Magic Institute in Algoma City that Thallian could go to.
Religious Views
Thallian is socially religious. He is not devoted to any one god, nor does he truly worship any, but he attends festivals and holiday services.
Wealth & Financial state
Growing up, Thallian's family was never in any financial distress due to the success of the farm and the continued demand for its wool and cheeses. Once he was forced to leave his home, however, Thallian had very little money with which to start his life over.
