Wessil Hills
Eastern Ayndrinor is the home of the vast Everyn Federation, and in the middle of that expanse is a sprawling area of highlands. The Wessil Hills and their northern neighbor the Dumein Hills are separated only by a river (the Mercer) and a few dozen miles of flattened land.
The highlands are mostly uninhabited, except by the odd sheepfold or farmer who ekes out a living in this rough area. Recent decades have seen the area grow in whiskey production, as the region's barley crops are especially hearty in the highlands and have taken on a distinctive flavor compared to that from lower climbs. The region also sports a specific variety of oak tree that imparts the slightest hint of sweetness on the whiskey when aged in the casks. Certain distillers have gotten creative by adding fruits to the mash or by malting over peat they import from the coastal boggy areas, creating truly unique whiskeys that cannot be found anywhere else in the world - except where these distilleries ship or export.
