Schrios (skree-ohs)
The Iron Hand
Schrios is one of the Olcrid, deities known for their evil persuasion and Elder parentage (Morwyn and Divone). He is known as the Lord of Tyranny, Torture, and Pain, and his followers live up to this ghastly reputation. Some speculate Schrios may have been the first of the Olcrid brought into being, though like the Deirid it is impossible to prove.
Schrios has few known priests and followers in Ayndrinor; most are already shady or secretive and do not practice in the open. The few public adherents to this deity's teachings are interrogation specialists in the more authoritarian and iron-fisted nations. The Toldrun See employees at least a handful as Inquisitors, who seek out heretics and try to silence dissent within the nation. Other small, security-minded states may have one or two open followers of Schrios on official payroll. Other than these official posts, the followers of Schrios tend to be associated with criminal organizations and use their talents to get information out of enemies and turncoats.
Tenets of Faith
- Suffer no unrest or challenge of one's rule. Be swift and ruthless in rooting out dissent, even better to make it public so others learn the consequences of defiance.
- When given the choice of using mercy, one should inflict as much pain as possible instead. Mercy is for the weak and cowardly.
- If an enemy has information you want, use whatever methods you need to extract this information.
- There is no harm in torturing or maiming people for fun.
Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
Schrios has a consistent description throughout various accounts over the centuries, which is partially due to not having to remember a face or other small details. All accounts of Schrios depict him as a robed figure with a skeletal head poking out from under a dark hood and no eyes or glowing orbs to speak of. His eyes, nose, and mouth all drip or cascade blood from some endless supply.
