Moradin

The High Inquisitor

According to legends and what some would call propaganda, Moradin was the member of the Toldrunites who actually stood up and killed the king of Gel Eamoni to begin the Dwarven Civil War. Moradin's life is not extraordinary before this incident, and it is unclear how he fell in with the worshipers of Toldrun in the first place. This act - or rather the wide celebration of it after the fact - is what catapulted Moradin into the nation's spotlight.   After the events of the Deep Hall Overthrow, Moradin was not made the leader of the city. He was not a high priest of Toldrun, though he was - by all accounts - a dedicated servant. Instead, he was named the High Inquisitor and charged with leading the nation's forces to hunt down and exterminate all dwarves who had fled after being declared exiles. He performed this duty for several decades in service of the See . One day, on a raid into Skerritt, he met a formidable force of dwarves and their allies. His forces were overwhelmed, and High Inquisitor Moradin was killed in the melee.   After his death, the leadership in the See named the largest border fort and the river on which it sat after this stalwart warrior of faith. The exiled dwarves in Skerritt and their allies have other names for these features that do not involve the High Inquisitor, but for the dwarves of the See his name will live on for eternity.   Not much is known about Moradin's appearance, as his role as High Inquisitor required a great deal of secrecy. The only image of his known to exist is a statue on the steps of the Inquisition headquarters, but even that does not depict finer details - and who knows how exaggerated or grandiose it has been made.
