Fort Albrecht (ahl-breh-kt)

Named for King Ott XIV's eldest child, this fortified town is part of the Oestbernia Northern Forts line that protects the kingdom from the raiders and monsters of the Frozen North. It is located on the plains, just below the permafrost line of the tundra, allowing farms to exist and be productive just to the south. It is one of the two forts closest to the Stones of Olmytria, and travelers frequently stop into Fort Albrecht on their way to and back from the monument.
Fort Albrecht has a single cannon stationed at each watchtower along the walls, and the soldiers stationed here are mostly infantry, with some rangers and cavalry mixed in. Though not the most heavily fortified of the towns, its thick walls and visible cannons make it an imposing sight, though it also evokes security and protection for its citizens. Due to its isolated location in the plains, this town is not targeted for attack quite as often as its forested siblings, since the defenders could see attackers coming for some distance off.
