Custodian Sanctuaries

Overview

In most major cities there are sanctuaries set up in honour of The Custodian. These places are safe havens for the injured that are beyond the control of political powers. Custodian Sanctuaries are designed to provide healing to any who enter their domain. They are designed as monuments to the Custodian's kindness, with the hope of imitating the life lead by the Custodian before their ascension. However, they only hold jurisdiction over their interior, and will only keep a patient whilst they require healing. Afterwards, the patient is calmly asked to leave. if there is resistance the healers will not hesitate to utilise their magic to forcibly evict the patient.

Appearance

The sanctuaries are easily identifiable as they are marked with the symbol of a giant oak tree. The symbol of the Custodian. Such buildings are always places of natural growth. They are built by channelling the Custodian's power to shape natural landmarks into rooms and open spaces. They are most commonly within caves, hills, and trees.

Public Opinion

When it comes to the sanctuaries most people view them as sacred places and respect all that they represent. However, there has been the threat of violating these places in past. This tends to happen when someone on a different side of a war or a criminal seek the sanctuaries as a place of refuge. However, the healers are generally agreeable with authorities and have no qualm about releasing a criminal even if there are guards outside.

The Great Oak

It's believed by the healers of the sanctuaries that the tree depicted as the Custodian's symbol, exists in a physical form and is the only true sanctuary of the Custodian. They believe that at the peak of its branches is where they can find and meet the Custodian. However, they are often too busy with their own sanctuaries to pursue such a myth. Instead covering the walls of the sanctuaries with artists' depiction of the great oak.
