The Temple of Helios

The sun doesn't just take its place among the heavens... he dominates the heavens by blotting out all other stars! And so the path of this Kingdom would seem to be self evident by the sky itself.
— Arevik Anwar, Sun Prime

Overview

The dominant religion of the Kingdom of Helia. The worship of Helios is central pillar of its faith- Helios being the very sun that rises and sets in a cycle of day and night. Prayers and offerings is observed with every sunrise and sunset. Sunrise to welcome Helios for ending the night, and Sunset to beseech for Helios to return and to bless the lands with daylight once more. It did not always lean towards belligerency, but as with all things it has changed and many would agree that the change was not for the better.   This religious order operates several temples within the Radiant City of Sol. This is the only place where Temples of Helios may be found as the order deems the ground outside the city to be unsanctioned by Helios. This is a partial reason for why the Kingdom concentrates so much wealth and power within just one geographic point.

The Sun Prime

Considered to be the chosen voice of Helios, the Sun Prime is the chief source of interpretation of all religious texts. In other words, the Sun Prime holds ultimate power within the Temple. Immediately below the Prime are the Arch Rays, and below them the Circle of Rays. This highly organized structure is highly effective at maintaining order within the The Temple of Helios.

Note(s) from the Archivists:

I wonder where it started to go wrong? Is there a conspiracy at work here? - Archivist Savitri   A conspiracy can give us someone to blame and maintain the illusion that all is controlled. But, things are not always under control and most will give in to their worst instincts when allowed. Those who think themselves pure fall quickest to their vices and judgements. - Archivist Taenya Naïlo    This will all happen again then. I suppose the best we can do for the next generation is to ensure our lessons are left to be learned, should any wish to learn. - Archivist Savitri
