Temi Otima

Arch-Vintner Temi Tastebud Otima

Temi was quite the character: parties, custom wine, and a business empire that has lasted centuries since. - Alicia Raven, Historian

Overview

Temi Otima established the Chateau d'Otima in 847AGC (colloquially known as the Otima Winery), which has since grown in both production capacity and renown. Her first wine label, Temi's Original, is considered the best wine in Quassus. It is said that she nearly spent her entire life perfecting the flavor and complexity of the beverage.

Impeccable Palate

Temi was renowned for her palate, which could accurately identify any wine or food presented to her. One of her favorite activities was to partake in blind taste tests of every sort. Especially those with a bet and a good pot of coin on the side. She won practically every one of these taste test challenges and became a legend as a result. Her status only grew as her wine business became more prominent.   Temi's uncanny ability that led her to develop Temi's Original, a clear wine whose taste and aroma are deemed to be the highest standard in viticulture. This wine later led to the massive growth of the business of the Otima Winery.

A Taste for Parties

In addition to create the finest wine the world has known since the The Great Collapse, Temi hosted many parties. This was probably done to justify getting people to try her wine, and just to drink wine in general. Her parties may have had a broad cultural impact on the culture of the Principality of Avistar, which was known to be a land of parties during its final days of independence. Whatever the case may be, the combination of Temi's exuberant partying behavior, her impeccably crafted wine, and the continuing legacy of her family business has earned her a place in history as a legend.

The Perfect Drink

Unfortunately, Temi had a rather sad ending to her tale. It is said that one night, after already hosting a party, she had opened her newest barrel of her Original label, and discovered that she had successfully created the perfect drink. She enjoyed it so much that she proceeded to ingest a fatal amount of the brew. Her body was discovered in the early morning slumped over a drained barrel. At least that's the official story. Some have wondered how Temi, practically a life-long Vinter and apparent high-functioning alcoholic, could suddenly lose control knowing full-well the dangers of alcohol poisoning. Maybe the drink was that good. Perhaps there was more to the story than has been revealed all these centuries later.

Note(s) from the Archivists:

Was it just that barrel that had the perfect wine? And Temi drank all of it? - Archivist Bob Ironrock   Yes and no. As the story goes, when she lost consciousness she tipped over the barrel thereby spilling its contents. - Archivist Taenya Naïlo   Interesting... - Archivist Bob
