Giant Domestic Honeybee

Among the elven homes in the canopies of an ancient forest just to the North of the Far Ildonian Plains a thrumming buzz is ever-present.
During the day these comically round and fuzzy creatures bumble around the trees in and out of their underground nests and throughout the hundreds of large budding flowers throughout the forest. They rarely notice passing humanoids and can even be found as pets and domesticated companions or livestock among the local elves. Their primary craft and trade is the abundant honey from the region. Their homes are nearly drowning in the stuff. Wax candles, sculptures, and more can be found throughout the region and much of the culture is defined by these funny beasts. They even act as a natural defense to some of the forest's more dangerous large predators. The symbiotic relationship with the local elves has made them friendly and almost lazy seeming at times.
Bee-keepers form tight friendships both with individual bees and with the hive as a whole. They can often times be found collecting honey from the bees or gathering nectar and pollen from local flora. In the mornings they will usually be surrounded by a small group of these bees, speaking with them gently and hand feeding them honey or powdering them with favorite fragrant pollen. Most of these bees are around the size of domestic dogs but some can get much larger.
The largest of the hive are sometimes kept as mounts for the local lookouts and guides. They are not fast but they are strong and can lift materials and riders high into the canopy without much effort. They can be seen toting loads of wood, wax, pollen, flowers, honey, and other crafting materials from place to place. Some even taxi residents between homes and businesses in the vertical city of the elves.
Locals even collect and use the stingers and fur of the creatures in their clothing, armor, and weapon designs.
