Gušćilnja
The Gušćilnja is a bloodline beast that has influenced the ecosystem of Karnharte resulting in the majority of creatures on the landmass to have reptilian features.
Hunting
Many humanoid species hunt the Gušćinlja for their tough, durable, heat resistant leather. They are not incredibly tough to kill as their large size prevents makes them lumbering creatures. However, each movement is made carefully to preserve energy and thus could contain a killing blow. To defeat a Gušćinlja, most hunters set up a team of fast-moving melee fighters using swords or polearms with thrusting attacks to better pierce through its hide. The weakest part of the creature is its underbelly, however, it is fully aware of this and will do its best to protect itself. While they can be fought with minimal damage and no casualties, one wrong move can cost someone their life. Slamming with its large, heavy claws, sweeping the ground with its long, whip-like tail, or ramming someone with the spines on its head can all prove fatal. But perhaps the cause of the most casualties is when someone relies too heavily on their magic. It is theorized that the Gušćilnja can sense even the slightest manipulation of magic energy as it happens and is thus able to predict and respond to magic attacks before they are able to materialize. Those who specialize in illusory magics are particularly at risk. It has been observed that the Gušćilnja is not affected by these magics but plays along anyway, waiting for the perfect chance to strike.Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
The Gušćilnja can only be found in the area surrounding Mt. Kemez in Karnharte. Research is currently being done to determine whether or not its habitat extends underground.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The Gušćilnja is one of the few beasts classified as a skevore as it is only known to eat Skeljudi, specifically the Fire and Earth Skeljudi that thrive around the mouth of the volcano. Since it has no other competitors other than members of its species, most will just wander around, lazily eating the underdeveloped Skeljudi, not bothering with those that have developed a consciousness.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
The Gušćilnja is hunted for its tough, durable, and heat resistant leather. The leather is used in Karneharte to make fire resistant armor. The leather is also exported, though now through the black market as exports were banned to help conserve the species.
The meat of hunted Gušćilnja is often used to feed domesticated carnivorous beasts because it is too tough and tasteless for humanoids.
The ebony scutes are kept and displayed as trophies.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
It is theorized that the blue glow within the Gušćilnja's pupils enables it to see the fluctuations of magic radiation, allowing it to predict and respond to attacks of a magical nature as they materialize.
