Jaikhanda (J-eye-kah-n-duh)
The very existence of this race was only recently discovered, their mysterious red crystalline ruins formerly being the only evidence of their being. This is partially due to the fact that when a Jaikhanda dies, their heart cores melt down, turning all of their surrounding rocky flesh into molten liquid, which then simply flows into the ground where it solidifies as it cools. Not too long ago some members of this race were found, still loving, buried deep under the surface of various planets in a sort of hibernation stasis. All further discovers and revelations remain classified to the public for now.
Basic Information
Anatomy
With flesh composed of various unique types of living rock, these beings have various crystal formations growing from their bodies which they use for everything from perception/vision to laser production. Each living one has a glowing molten heart core that keeps them alive, with the secondary offensive ability to produce highly focused light energy in the form of a laser. It seems as though these beings used these lasers not only as a weapon, but as a tool for cutting structures out of rock or other materials.
Genetics and Reproduction
Apparently, once every dozen or so years around 10 members of a community will gather around a tall stack of specially chosen rocks, after which each gathered members blasts the stack with laser energy from their heart cores. After several hours of this a new Jaikhanda emerges from the smoke, fully grown with bits of knowledge and memory from each of the contributing parents.
Ecology and Habitats
The only memebers if this race, living or dead, that have been discovered have been buried deep under the crust of various planets. Of course, they do not require atmosphere to survive.
Dietary Needs and Habits
This race consumes coal and other such combustible rocks and elements which are then fed into their heart cores where they are slowly burned for energy.
