The 5 former commanders of The Black Cabal swear fealty to Hekate and she grants them land, title, and a new name: Clan Veruza.

In Hekate's throne room, flanked by her new royal guard, there the 5 commanders presented their gift and promised forevermore that any who held loyalty to their own banners would in turn hold superior loyalty to hers. Hekate agreed and granted the rebel leaders all of the lands south of Lake Mortvia as their stewardship, but they must entirely renounce the name of The Black Hunger and ensure that all of those loyal to Gideon were hunted and cut down. The rebels agreed and the five of them together brought forth a request that they be now known as Clan Veruza, from an ancient vampiric word meaning salvation. Hekate proclaimed that Clan Veruza would henceforth occupy a seat of nobility in her lands and a serve as her military council, giving them the title of The Red Guards.
