Gideon Lothorne's 5 most trusted commanders secretly plot to betray him and ally with Hekate in fealty.

Following Gideon Lothorne's decree that The Black Hunger would go to war with the Goddess Hekate, the 5 commanders of Gideon's forces meet in secret to discuss. Deciding collectively that Gideon's pride and ego would be the total death of his entire following, the commanders resolved then and then to spend the time Gideon gave them to marshal their troops focused on sewing seeds of rebellion against him instead.   In 3A Y112, Gideon finally called his commanders together with intent to strike out against Hekate across the peninsula in a great military march, setting his first sights on the new Great Temple of Hekate that had been built, as an undeniable declaration of war.   The amassed forces of the 5 commanders began their assault on The Black Hunger's fort, as their leaders had instructed. As Gideon reacted and gave orders to seal the chambers and put down the attack, the commanders seized their opportunity and, united, slew Gideon Lothorne in his own command chambers. They then led their troops in killing off his personal guards.   Claiming Lothorne's head and securing it with powerful necromantic magics, the 5 commanders marched out of the command chambers and declared that The Black Hunger was no more and that all loyal to them would submit to Hekate's rule.   The 5 commanders then set off north to Hekate's castle to present Lothorne's head as an offering and swear fealty.
