General Physical Condition
Astra is a tall and curvaceous woman with ashy pale skin, deep maroon eyes, and long black curls. She is in perfect health.
Body Features
Always manages to keep her nails painted black. Again, it's a mystery where her nail polish is kept and no has seen her put it one, but its always flawless.

Personal history
Astra was born the seventh child and only daughter of Kaspar Darkwood, a powerful duke in Havana and influential member of the Nyx clan. Astra's mother was assignated when she was seven years old. After that, Astra was raised mostly by her great-grandfather, Vasily Darkwood and her great-aunt Andrella. The two were strict, no nonsense individuals with a strong sense of propriety.
Astra was well educated, with a host of tutors who made sure she was well versed in etiquette, language, music, dance, history, and the arts. Everything she would need to become a proper lady. Astra was a quick learner loved reading. Despite the fact that Andrella and Vasily do not approve of novels and fiction, Astra was an avid reader of high drama, fantasy, adventure, and romance. Her favorite books have adventure with a good romance to back it up (NOT SMUT).
When she was sixteen, Astra's father arranged a marriage to the youngest of the Princes of Baldur, Charles Blackthorn. The night before Astra's wedding, she decided that she would do exactly what one of the heroines in her stories would do- and she ran away.
She's running still, as her father has sent his oldest son, Induth and his adventuring party after Astra to collect and bring her home, hoping that he can salvage the marital alliance between his family and the royal family. The official word in Baldur is that Astra was kidnapped the night before her wedding, and there is a reward for her safe return home.

Family Ties
Kaspar Darkwood- Duke. An ambitious, driven, and power hungry man. Kaspar sees everyone around him as pawns and holds blood in the highest regard. Your blood determines your superiority or inferiority. His family and children are just tool for him to gain more power and influence.
Great-Grandfather Vasiliy Darkwood- Grandather of Kaspar, claims to be three hundred years old (closer to 180). A very stern, hard headed, grumpy old man with a short temper and no patience for foolishness or nonsense.
Great Aunt Andrella Darkwood- Daughter of Vasily, never married. She acted as governess, tutor, and “mother” figure to the children. Not a very matronly type. She’s strict and short tempered, and obsessed with etiquette. She pushed the children very hard in their studies and punishes any form of what she deems to be bad manners or breaches of etiquette (Astra and her siblings all have very good posture and Astra can balance of a stack of books on her head as she walks at any given time. The children were not really allowed to be children.
Induth Darkwood: (age 31) Induth is set to inherit the Duke’s title and lands and become the next head of the family. He has known this was his fate all his life, and it’s made him restless. Like his father, he is stern, strong willed, and a little controlling. He joined an adventuring party at age 21 because he has little interest in politics or court life. Adventuring is his way of earning prestige without playing the court.
Jassien Darkwood: (age 30) Jassien is the most easy going member of the family. He acted as surrogate mother the younger children (mainly Oskar and Astra). He dislikes the way the way his family operates and has decided to make something different for his own small family. His wife is named Faina, and they have three children, Darvan (8), Gwenn (6), and Alec (4). He wanted a different life for Astra as well, and was one of the only Darkwoods who didn’t see Astra as a pawn, so he helped her get away from Darkwood Manor on the night before her wedding.
Kael Darkwood (age 28) Kael was always disinterested in court life , and was much, much more interested in his studies. He’s dedicated his life to the study of medicine and become a well renowned doctor. For the most part, he is uninvolved with his family.
Lodvico “Vico” Darkwood (age 26). Vico is a party animal, womanizer, and a drinker. He’s the “one in every family”, the proverbial wayward son. He’s on thin ice with Kaspar and only one more public embarrassment from being cut off.
Mirko Darkwood (age 25) Mirko was always the most like his father in temperament, while being radically different in personal morals. Their similarities (key differences) lead to a lot of familial strife. Mirko married against his father’s express orders, a low born human woman. He was cut off and Kaspar never speaks his name. When his son Mathias was born Mirko sent word but Kaspar burnt the letter without reading it. When Astra ran away she stayed with Mirko and his wife, Minerva for a while before moving onto adventuring, knowing that Induth would come looking for her at Mirko’s.
Nicola Darkwood (age 23) A very quiet, bookish young man who has been very committed to scholarly pursuits. He spends all his time reading dusty old tomes and pursuing any knowledge he can get his hands on. He has a very keen (and some would say too keen) interest in necromancy.
Oskar Darkwood (age 18) Oskar is bold, brash, and athletic. He hero worships Induth and will do anything for just a second of his father’s attention. Because he’s the closest in age to Astra, he’s the most friendly with her, all though he was also the most likely to tease Astra as they grew up. He was often jealous of the attention that Astra got because of her position as “the only girl”

Astra was not really raised with the gods, and while she has cursory knowledge of them because she is well educated, but otherwise religion has not played a role in her life.
