Apocrypha of the Eldar Document in Avalon | World Anvil

Apocrypha of the Eldar

Not much is known of this mysterious tome. It is made of black leather with a gold embossed Triangle with wings. It has red gems which resemble Philosopher stones but don't give off magical energy. It is claimed to be written by Nimzee Asfour in the library of Alexandria. Inside written in runes, hieroglyphs, and strange scratch like symbols. It was found clutched in the hands of an unconscious Taiza. An Blood Elf Norden pirate who washed up on the Beach near Lehi city.

The tome was taken to Athena's collage where Athena herself attempted to translate it. But she was only able to translate a couple of pages. They spoke of the first creation and a race of beings called the Eldar. While Athena says the book is mostly correct she hasn't given many details. Some copies have been made and distributed by Athena's Clerics. However the original has not been seen sense before the Age of the Godless.

Purpose

Scripture teaching about the creation of the world...and perhaps other things. Still not fully translated.

Document Structure

Clauses

Divided into sections with each section seeming to tell about a different vision the author had. As of yet the only parts translated tell about the creation of the Eldar.

Publication Status

One original with limited copies made by Athena's clerics.

Historical Details

Background

First pages suggest it was written by an Arab named Nimzee Asfour in the library of Alexandria shortly after the conquest of Alexander the Great. However there is no historical reference for such scholar existing.

History

Was first found when the pirate Taiza washed up on the shore near Lehi City. She claimed to have been several days away raiding Aryan ships on the pirate ship Banshee's Cry under Captain Saffira Smith. Taiza said their ship had come under attack from a Kracken after raiding an Aryan ship. She did not remember seeing the book or grabbing it. Just being lifted into the air by the Kracken while praying to Athena. Only to be bashed into the sea and knocked unconscious.

If her account is to be believed she floated unconscious for several days at sea and somewhere during that time some entity placed the book into her hands. But stranger things have been seen in Avalon.

Public Reaction

While Athena has stated it is largely correct there are some who suggest is nothing more than the ramblings of a mad man. Sense the original document has not bee seen by the public sense before the Age of the Godless some go as far to say it doesn't exist. These heretics suggest Athena made up the document to further the spread of her church.

Legacy

This book has caused many people to deny the gods are truly gods. They claim they are nothing more than powerful aliens. They ether believe this book to be false or the proof of the aliens identities. Others claim this book is the scripture of the "Ancient Ones" like Cthulhu and other monsters of literature.

This document has also lead to more "Christian" churches being built. These new Christians claim the gods are divine but it is better to worship their father El instead of them. Most gods have not taken action against these churches.
