Ilya Maglavich

Rift of Perun

A former carpenter, Ilya had his life changed when he was struck by lightning while cutting down a tree in the midst of a storm. When he woke, he found the tree split in two and his clothes destroyed, yet he was unharmed. He soon learned that his body had become nigh invulnerable and developed immense strength. His abilities continued to grow, and soon he was able to generate and control electricity.   Realising that his powers could pose a threat to others, he retreated from public life. He sold his store and moved his business to a workshop in his garage, relying on a steady stream of special orders that allowed him to live comfortably, if not luxuriously.   Ilya's mythos, the storm god Perun, frequently compelled him to walk the streets, visiting dive bars and other spaces frequented by criminals, both to instil order and seek out his old foe, Veles. Ilya would later learn that the Rift of Veles was Detective Julia Ramirez, a member of the City's police force. While she hated vigilantes like Ilya and his friends, she respected him for the work he did helping the ordinary people, something she too strived to do.   Ilya also had a mutually beneficial relationship with the crime lord Vlad Petrovich. Ilya would aid Vlad with certain tasks, and Vlad would respond in kind, such as the time he took some Eastern European refugees that had been kidnapped and smuggled into the City.   During one case, Ilya and the crew found themselves sent back in time to 1956. When the confronted those responsible, Ilya was left stranded in that time so that the others could make it back to their time.   In the following 60 years, Ilya used his knowledge of the future to build a mighty business empire directed from the shadows by Ilya and his associates. Monoc Securities is one such organisation. During this time, he also made contact with the group known as the Ordo Venatori, or simply, the Order. He quickly gained a position of leadership in the group and used his influence to focus efforts on researching the nature of the Mist.
