Akati

As seen in
Akati is the umbrella term for the descendants of the ancient fey elves of the Feywild.
The akati can be either elven or half-elven in heritage, as they derive from the age of the divine way back in Avaleen's past. They are one of the blessed ancient races, meaning that this variant ages three times more slowly than their kin across the lands. Once at home in Ghor Minthra, they discovered the way to the Feywild where they settled. This elven branch was heavily influenced by the unnatural fey and evolved as such. As a society they are guided by Ayursha and Farachimo, with the rest of the old pantheon not far behind. As opposed to their darker cousins, the akati bathe in the light of the upper planes and are mostly welcomed in the world of Avaleen.

Appearance

Nowadays it is difficult to differentiate between an akati and someone from another race as they have mingled with the races of Avaleen for nearly 1000 years. As opposed to the illevan, the akati's transformation was more in character and abilities, rather than physical.

Traits and abilities

The akati blood is a dominant gene and regardless of race, there are traits that are found in anyone with this heritage in addition to other racial abilities.
  • Ability Score Bonus: In addition to the racial bonus, all akati receive +2 Constitution.
  • Superior senses: Akati have advantage on saving throws relating to detection, and perception checks when looking for fey or fiend.
  • Magical resistance: Advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects
  • Ancestral magic: All akati know the Light cantrip. When they reach 3rd level they can cast Dancing Lights or Faerie Fire. All akati have proficiency with thief's tools and can choose to add their proficiency modifier to either History, Nature or Arcana in addition to the proficiencies granted by their race and class.
  • Elemental adept: If applicable, an akati is adept with the elements air and earth.

Society

Is it possible for a society to exist without a hierarchy among its people? Someone will always lead, someone must always follow, someone’s limits will be much greater than someone else’s and someone will always push forward towards a change the rest of them are not ready for. And this is true of the akati as well. Though no one will ever, ever admit it. Neither in public nor private.   To an outsider the akati is a true democratic race

Tribes

Historically there are four tribes within the akati culture. Roya, Ignis, Aadam, Mora, and Triyes.

Roya

They are represented by Wanda in the Council.   The Roya are the most nomadic tribe of the Akati, and those who took the displacement in their stride. Known for their adventurous spirit and restless nature, the Roya live for exploration and discovery. They roam the lands of Avaleen, seeking out new corners of the world, uncovering lost knowledge, and immersing themselves in the ever-changing tapestry of life. Their desire for adventure often leads them to wander, but always with a purpose—to protect sacred paths between the Material Plane and the Feywild, and to gather ancient secrets that have been lost to time. Including those of Ghor Minthra.   You grew up surrounded by the wisdom of the past and the thrill of discovering something new. The Roya tribe believes that true understanding comes not from sitting still, but from exploring, experiencing, and learning from the world itself. Their deep connection to the realms themselves grants them an otherworldly bond to nature and magic, and their restless, nomadic lifestyle reflects this ever-present drive to explore both the physical world and the mysteries that lie beyond.   Though not tied to any one place, the Roya take great pride in their role as guardians of the Portal system. While their wanderlust drives them to explore far and wide, they never stray too far from their duty to protect these ancient, sacred sites. The Roya are often seen as protectors of sacred knowledge, bearers of forgotten lore, and ever-watchful guardians of the paths that link the planes.

Ignis

Represented in the Council by both Misha Eldter and Elmira. He is the first regent of the Ignis tribe in 300 years, the previous being of Aadam.   The Ignis tribe is the oldest and most revered of the Akati elves. Formed in the first sacred grove of the Akati and named after the god who blessed them, Ignis, the tribe is known for its deep connection to the divine and the primal forces that shape the world. With bloodlines that stretch back millennia, members of the Ignis tribe are often seen as the torchbearers of their people’s ancient traditions, the keepers of sacred wisdom, and the protectors of Akati’s legacy. You, as a member of this esteemed tribe, carry the weight of this legacy, aware of the responsibility placed upon you by both your heritage and the expectations of others. Growing up among the Ignis tribe, you were taught to honor the flame that runs through your veins, a symbol of your people’s enduring strength and the divine favor that guides you. The Ignis tribe’s deep connection to the divine has imbued you with a strong sense of duty and purpose. Whether you serve as a protector, a diplomat, or a scholar, you have been raised with the knowledge that the past, present, and future of the Akati are linked through your tribe’s ancient bloodline.   While this heritage brings great honor, it also places an immense burden upon your shoulders. You are constantly reminded of the responsibility you bear to carry the flame of your ancestors, and the expectations others place upon you can sometimes feel overwhelming. Yet, despite the weight of these duties, the Ignis tribe instills in you a sense of pride and resilience, for you know that your actions, your choices, and your life are intrinsically tied to the fate of your people.

Aadam

Represented by Vista in the Council.   The Aadam are the keepers of time and reality, tasked with studying and preserving the arcane weaves that govern the flow of existence. Raised by lore keepers, temple guardians, and oracles, you have grown up surrounded by deep knowledge of the past, present, and future. Your people understand that time is fluid, intertwined with fate, and intricately connected to the very fabric of the universe. As a member of the Aadam tribe, you are attuned to these rhythms, knowing that the past, present, and future are not separate but bound together in an ever-shifting cycle.

The Aadam tribe holds a sacred duty to protect ancient knowledge, guard the secrets of the past, and maintain the natural balance of time. Revered for their wisdom and foresight, many Aadam serve as advisors, scholars, mages, and guardians of sacred sites or artifacts tied to the manipulation of time. Your people are deeply spiritual and philosophical, often seen as the sages of Akati society, with their teachings influencing all who seek to understand the world’s deeper truths.   Whether you seek to correct the flow of time, protect the ancient secrets of your people, or unlock the mysteries of existence, your background has provided you with the tools to achieve these goals. But, with such power comes great responsibility. You are always conscious of the dangers and temptations that meddling with time can bring, and you tread carefully, aware that each moment holds the potential to reshape the future.

Mora

The warriors. Genetically stronger than other akati, they are the fierce protectors of the Empire. Protection is in their blood, and they usually take vocations that uses this - whether that is on land, in the sky, or at sea. They are represented in the Council by General Mijinn of the Mora Monks, Head of Tactics and Strategy & supreme general of the akati civil force.

Triyes

The sages. They value intelligence and wisdom above other attributes. They usually become scientists, researchers, academics, jiras, aspirants and guild masters. They are represented academically by Jira Seora Atal and as skilled by Arik Ondana.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Akatian is a melodious language that takes influence from our Sanskrit, old Norse and Arabic. Each tribe has its own dialect, and while there is some form of mutual understanding most defer to the ignis-accent for intertribal communication. With Agartha now on the material plane most akati are effectively bilingual with common as well.

Common Myths and Legends

The Veil - the afterlife The Dance of the Eternal Flame – A myth of the Ignis tribe, telling the story of how the first Akati learned to harness fire and the power of creation. This legend speaks of the divine blessing of Ayursha, who taught them how to shape the elements to their will.

The Shadow War has shaped your worldview, and though you may not have the same loyalties to the Akati tribes as others, you are still keenly aware of the stakes. The war between the Akati elves and their enemies may not concern you personally, but the consequences of the conflict are far-reaching, and you cannot help but be drawn into the fray. You may align yourself with a specific faction or strike out on your own, but the choices you make will have a profound impact on the future of the Akati elves and the world of Avaleen.
