Etrusia
Etrusia (also known as the Etrusian Republic) is a federated republic along the Continental West coast of Aurora. One of the most recent formed nations in Aurora (formed in 1736 A.D.), the Etrusia Republic is the unification of all 8 of the traditionally tribal Etrusian provinces in the region. While a modernized nation, Etrusia still holds on to some of its tribal roots, seen in its cultural celebrations and political struture. However, in many provinces, the deeper tribal traditions and heirarchies have become a relic or formality, but its effects on the country can still be felt today. As mentioned, Etrusia operates as a variation of a republic and is currently led by Executive Minister (or Basil, the traditional name) Aurelius Cascadia, having been elected in Q1 2020 at the age of 22, and expecting reelection in 2026.
Etrusia is the 3rd largest nation in Aurora, surpassed by only the Erilis Sovereignty (ES) and the Aurora Federation (AF). It is also the 4th largest economy in Aurora, due to it being the largest exporter of food (of both interiorly grown food and seafood), the second largest exporter of lumber, and recently the leading innovator of sAI (Sentient AI) and CmAI (Cerebral-mapped AI). They are also one of the leading producers of solar technology to the entirety of Aurora.
While a formal and modernized republic, Etrusia still retains some of its tribal routes. Etrusia is broken up into 8 provinces, named after the previously existing tribal groups in the region before the Etrusian republic's formation (many of which also operated as independent "nations" before as well). These are: Axsius, Cascadia, Junikos, Masitha, Raelkuthos, Sacytha, Telus, and Vehran. While still adhering to the tribal naming structure (read Culture below), it is mostly cultural and social in nature, and the political structures of the tribes mostly cease to exist (except in limited amounts in more traditional provinces). However, older and entitled family names can still have some "political capital" on the provincial and federal level. However, the provinces themselves do have some autonomy and leverage over the federal govenrment (read Structure below).
But despite the more tribal influences and more decentralized nature of the republic, Etrusia is still a booming and advanced nation. With the region's rolling hills and river valleys, Etrusia has proven to be a tremendously fertile ground for food production and solar capture. Not only has this made Etrusia a massive food and energy exporter, but it has also supercharged their rising tech industry. The nation has invested much into the development, testing and distribution of massive solar and indoor food production tech to keep up with their, and all of Aurora's, increasing food and power needs. Much of this rapid growth was mostly made possible by Etrusia's formation into a republic centuries ago. This has allowed Etrusia to compete on the economic stage with the likes of the Aurora Federation and Erilis Sovereignty -- nations with much larger existing industries and GDPs.
The final pillar of Etrusia's rise is a recent development within the past few years. A few decades ago, parties and researchers from the Etrusian tech-sector began investigating into AI research, during the time of the rumored Second AI Revolution that Aurora was supposed to expect in the near future. What it promised was not just the sentience of AI, but power of AI to be mapped 1-to-1 with intelligent-like cerebral structures. In 2019, Etrusia reported a breakthrough in their development. While the specifics of the breakthrough had to be kept confidential for security and trade secret protection, UCC Science-and-Tech administrators and other authorized and respected researchers validates the claims w1icly after the meeting a roadmap that would see potential prototypes and an unveiling of the technology to the public in 2 to 3 years. However, since of the Etrusian Civil War of 2020 and the Erilis Sovereignty's involvement in the postwar, information about the developments have been sparse (Read Civil War and the Deposition of the Basileus below).
This union worked well for several decades, even allowing industry and innovation to thrive. However, the threat of having their strings pulled by neighbors, as well as the relative fragility to internal struggles, eventually led the Basileus and the nations' leaders to realize they needed a stronger, more permanent bond to truly stay unified. Thus in the 1730s A.D., votes were held and constitutional drafts were developed with plans to create a concrete governing structure for to-be new naiton. The process was relatively painless, mostly because of all the work done during the days of confederation to build internal unity. Compromises, however, had to be made to appeal to several parties, including the royals, the monarchy, the provincial tribes and leaders, and the common peoples. Thus what resulted was what is (mostly) now modern day Etrusian Republic, operating as a unified nation which has managed to stay together for almost 300 years.
Another motivator was for the Etrusian tribes to join the United Continental Council (UCC), Aurora's continental union similar to Europe's UN. The relative instability and lack of structure made them ineligible to apply. The UCC had only been created a little over a century before, and had been a bit untested in terms of handling large-scale conflicts, invasions, and continent-wide issues. Despite this, the Etrusian Tribal Confederacy was becoming more paranoid with its neighboring nations, like Zenaida, the AF, and <<placeholder_nation>>. Thus, one of the final terms of the Republic's union was to apply for the UCC. This request to join the Council would be approved 15 years later, once Etrusia proved itself to be an internally stable entity.
This war split the realm into four factions: The Etrusian Royal Forces (ERF), led by the Basileus Cavrus Axius Velos; the Etrusian Government Forces (EGF), led by the newly elected Minister Aurelius Cascadia and the former Minister Junius Flavus; the Etrusian Tribal Conglomerate (ETC), forces controlled by the Traditionalist provinces (read below) of Junikos and Vehran; and the Republican Military Front (RMF), led by the more Liberal provinces of Sacytha, Masitha, and Raelkuthos.
The factionlism between and within the provinces of Etrusia had existed for decades before (also flaring up during the Strait of Magellan incident), hence why these different groups and provinces united under their respective banners so quickly. The EGF and RMF mostly fought alongside each other (despite their differences) against the loosely united the ERF and ETC. The conflict remained mostly a stalemate. That was until a few months later when the EGF faced defections to the Monarchy's forces, and the ETC put further strain on the RMF, specifically on their province's solar grids, threatening catastrophe.
The actions of Basileus Cavrus were condemned by the UCC, as well other individual nations like the AF and the Erilis Sovereignty, but there were no immediate plans yet to intervene militarily. However, during the turning of tides against Aurelius in the war, the government of the Erilis Sovereignty offered military aid to his regime. Notably, the ES proposed this offer of intervention without the UCC's permission or knowledge, a violation of the UCC's Articles of Protocol. Aurelius and <<placeholder_name>> considered the offer, as well as the ramifications both internally and with the UCC, but did not accept immediately. That was until the capital city of Cascadia (where they had been operating improptu at the beginning of the war) was bombed, with enemy tanks within 50 miles of reaching it. That was when the current and former ministers accepted the ES's aid, although the specific details of the deal are still unknown at this time.
A week later, on July 17, 2020 A.D., Erilis military forces poured in from the continental North, presssing into both Axsius and Vehran, engaging both the Monarch's forces as well as the ETC. While the conflict lasted for about a month longer, the core of the fighting died down after about two weeks. ERF troops were routed and the Basileus himself was taken into custody after surrendering at the Etrusian capital in Axsius. Additionally, the ES pushed into Vehran and crushed the frontline ETC forces, and subsequently arrested the surrendering Vehran and Junikos Arkons (province leaders) as well as their top military commanders and other important figures to the revolt. The incursion came to a close finally on August 4th, 2020 A.D.
The first order was Aurelius's amendment to Etrusian constitution removing the Basileus and dismantling the Axsius (specifically the Velos denomination) monarchy. There was no official process for removing the monarchy, but Aurelius's cabinet and the non-rebellious provincial leaders came up with a compromise: a 3/4th's majority Provincial Senate vote. Additionally, senate members from the rebelling provinces of Axsius, Junikos, and Vehran were prohibited from voting (Telus, while having Royalist forces come from it, was allowed to vote limitedly). There was protest, especially from the prohibited provinces. But with the military excursion crippling their forces, and the continued Erilis occupation there, it did not stop the vote. Subsequently, the Basileus position was made ceremonial, allowing Cavrus Axsius Velos and his immediate family to still perform cultural duties and still receive some federal funding, but he would have no ruling or voting power in the government. This was done to appeal both the Royalists and Traditionalists (see Political Groups below), while still pivoting the government to more of a full republic. Furthermore, the Basileus lost the right to hold an army, and the Etrusian Royal Army was disbanded.
Many changes happened with the provinces, especially the ones that fought against the federal government. Axsius was (and continues to be to this day) occupied by Etrusian federal forces and inspectors. Its Arkon was removed from office and held under house-arrest for 6 months until being freed. The other Arks were also removed from office and supervised elections were held. Telus had fractured during the war, with its Arks splitting between neutrality and aiding the monarchy. Thus, a compromise was made to only dismiss and bar from office the Arks, senators, and military leaders that either voted or took up arms against the federal government. Telus would also not be occupied. However, Telus would suffer from some indirect consequences (see section below Repaying the Favor)
The deal with Junikos and Vehran was much different. While they held the peace during the removal of the monarchy, they opposed having their entire political structure reorganized, or being occupied long term. Despite having many of their forces battered in Vehran by the ES, there was still a sizable force in Junikos that was capable of fighting. While unlikely to win, several Arks, politicians, and residents made it clear that any forced, drastic restructurings of Vehran or Junikos would result in conflict (even if there was no chance of success). While unconfirmed, there were rumors that Etrusia's southern neighbor Zenaida was planning to intervene on the former ETC province's behalf if conflict re-erupted. Wishing to avoid the political ramifications of further decimating two provinces, Aurelius and the Vehran and Junikos tribunals (<- the name for provincial governments) came up with a compromise (see Structure below for the political strucutre of the provinces):
The Republican National Front (RNF) received more favorable conditions, having fought alongside the Etrusian government for most of the war (apart from some incidents discussed here). Sacytha, Masitha, and Raelkuthos were still required to disband their coalition, which they complied with, but did not have to remove anyone from office. They also received priority government aid to rebuild from the war -- in particular Masitha which was one of the solar hubs of Etrusia and received some of the most damage in the fighting. Some senators criticized the lack of punishment for the RNF, since they formed a coalition instead of committing their troops directly to the federal military. The RNF provinces countered the argument, stating they initially misunderstood the political situation: not sure how much or if the country was in control of the Executive Ministry. Regardless, Aurelius maintained his policy, perhaps to gain further support from the more Liberally-based peoples of the southern provinces, or to maintain a balance of power. Either way, the policy was ratified.
The opinions of Aurelius and his regime's actions towards the provinces were both praised and challenged by many of the different factions. Some saw his ratification of the amendment to abolish the monarchy as his attempt to claim power as an authoritarian, while others saw it as just -- either having been opposed to the monarchy, or were simply unhappy with Velos's reign. Others saw it as not going far enough, and wanted a restructuring of the provinces to remove the Ark system to give individuals more direct voting power. It seemed that Aurelius's policies appealed to most of the factions, but just not the hardliners of any of them (except maybe his fellow Cascadians.)
Publicly, Aurelius stated that he wanted to focus on "healing the country" and bringing Etrusia back to a "stable, economically and socially sound, sturdy nation." He affirmed that he did not want to become Basileus or become an authoritarian, but emphasized that the removal of the monarchy and the political stir-up of the provinces that fought against the federal government was "the right thing for an Etrusian nation in the modern era." He appeared to not want to punish any province too severely and risk the potential of them seceding, or to further anger the UCC. While Aurelius's actions and statements would appeal many, it would not erase the factional tensions that had been present in Etrusia for the last few decades.
The final part of Aurelius's reconstruction was the financial repair and infrastructure rebuilding of the provinces. While the war only really occurred in a few hotspots, there was a lot of damage over the 6 months that it raged on. To try and appease all sides, Aurelius tried to distribute the aid impartially and objectively, except for some of the RNF provinces like Masitha, which had some of its crucial solar infrastructure damaged from ETC attacks. Vehran and Masitha received the most aid -- the former having been caught in the fighting against the ES and Etrusian Federal forces, and the later having been invaded by the ETC. While most of the population centers were left untouched, power and food production centers had been critical points of capture. The Etrusian Federal forces tried to avoid damage to these as much as possible (to prevent indirect harm to civilians), not all sides obeyed those orders. Despite this, the reconstruction was able to be carried out with relative ease. The second part was providing financial assistance to the affected provinces, as the war had made inter-provincial and international business difficult, or at times impossible to perform. The Etrusians saw a substantial economic decline of about 5-10 percent that year.
For his first order, Aurelius released exclusivity trade mandates where Etrusia's sAI and CmAI development organizations could only do business with organizations of the Erilis Sovereignty. Following that, the Aurelius regime mandated that AI development firms join regional consortiums, generally joined with (or operated by) ES organizations. Furthermore, months down the line the ES was also given the right to purchase AI and tech labs and businesses within Etrusia (no nation before was ever allowed to do this; only foreign investments were allowed, not purchases.) As time continued, the Basil Aurelius would continue to sign mandates and trade agreements exclusively with the ES. In exchange, the Erilis Sovereignty would front infrastructure development in the recovering and growing Etrusia, as well as help Aurelius keep his regime and the newly reorganized republic formidable. Aurelius also agreed to these deals to help boost Etrusia's economy after the financial losses enduring during the 6 months of conflict.
(Agreement was fine at first, despite some grumblings. After a couple years of work, Erilis saw its potential and turned the mutual effort into a one sided pull towards claiming it for the ES)
The tech sector, as well as many of the tech hub provinces, were enraged by this move. While it was claimed to facilitate innovation and help elevate post-war Etrusia, many saw it as Etrusia cashing out on its most important resource. It wouldn't help further when reports came out about facilities being plundered and abandoned, and many workers being demanded to move to ES to continue their work if they wish to keep their careers. Telus was hit the hardest, originally being the spearhead of AI research, having many of its labs left abandoned the ES-based corporations had gotten their use out of them. Cascadia also suffered some losses too, and Sacytha began outright violating the exclusivity mandates, refusing to work with the ES at all. Provinces with less tech and AI development stagnated, and in some cases regressed, in the development field. While Etrusia was still benefitting financial from its deals with Erilis, it was gaining less back in finished products or research potential. It also turned many against Cascadia since many Etrusians saw their AI-development as Etrusia's stake in Aurora, providing Etrusia power and legitamacy, as well as a source of national pride.
While Etrusia had slowly rebuilt its foreign relations after the Strait of Magellan Incident (read below), the political instability of a UCC nation and the disruption of vital international trade with Etrusia (as they were a major energy and food exporter) had impacted Etrusia's international standing once again. While there was sympathy for Etrusia due to their monarch's actions, the strain those 6 months put on the Aurora economy, and what many saw as the lack of a "proper conclusion" to the internal conflict, left many Etrusian trading partners and UCC companions miffed. A close eye would be kept on Etrusia, especially by the AF's ASOS and ADC organizations and ES's Special Forces, having established bases in the Northern and Eastern Etrusian borders to hande the frequent insurgencies.
The presence of Erilis Sovereignty forces, albeit small, and their existing deals with the federal government still continue to frustrate portions of the populace and political class. Many from all factions see the veiled grip the ES has on Etrusia, as well as their fellow Etrusians seemingly benefiting off of it to the detriment of their own people.
Aurelius's term concludes at the beginning of next year (2026 A.D.), in which he has been campaigning for reelection. Aurelius has been growing its international communicaiton and commerce to reelevate Etrusia's presence on the Auroran stage, as well as making relations outside of Aurora. Aurelius's dominance in the polls is notable, but the political climate has seen his rating oscillate in the past years. The Minister is competing against two rival components: <placeholder_pol_1>, a liberal Ark from Masitha; and <placeholder_pol_2>, a Royalist Ark from Axsius who the former Basileus has endorsed and helped campaign (while the former monarch cannot run, he still speaks publicly and can endorse candidates).
The factional tensions between the provinces still remains present, with some tribes and groups in these provinces doubling down, harkening back to the days of the Etrusian Tribal Confederation. Tensions between them still run hot, resulting in clashes and insurgencies. As of December 2024, with the rise in hot conflicts, Aurelius has proclaimed that any further internal fighting would be clamped down on by federal forces. However, an opportunity to test this declaration has not arisen yet, but several province leaders have publicly shown their disapproval for said declaration.
In the years since the civil war, the AF and ES have established bases near border cities of Etrusia (past the DMZ) to deal with the boiling over conflicts and supply disruptions. Aurelius and many public figures have shown disapproval of the prescence of foreign forces. However, since these actions were approved and mandated by the UCC to protect the Aurora continental supply chain, it has been begrudgingly tolerated. The provinces of Vehran and Junikos have showed disdain in particular, with tensions between their local forces and the foreign forces reaching a boiling point at times, but no direct conflict has occurred yet.
<to edit>The prescence of the ES still remains strong, not only with their intertwining with Etrusian AI development, but with the prescence of small amounts of ES forces in the northern provinces, including Cascadia and Axsius. Some say it is the ES trying to passively show it's domination over Etrusia, while others see it as Aurelius using the ES to maintain his own authority.
The future of Etrusia is uncertain, but no doubt the actions of the provincial leaders, the existing and upcoming Basil, and foreign influence in 2025 will define Etrusia's course for the near future.

Formation of the Republic
Etrusia has existed in several forms previously, with different unities and borders between the various Etrusian tribes. However, the Etrusian Republic was the first time in history that all the tribes in the Etrusia region of Aurora united under the same governing body. The previous union between the tribal nations, the Etrusian Tribal Confederacy, was an experiment that set a template for what would eventually become the republic. It was ruled by a Basileus (or monarch/king), with each nation having voting delegates to the monarchy, but the provinces themselves still had a lot of autonomy in regards to governance and treaties. They held open borders with each other to facilitate trade and mutual growth.
Civil War and the Deposition of the Basileus
Etrusia had existed as a Monarchial Republic upon its unionization until 2020. It was this year that the leading Monarch (called the Basileus) Cavrus Axsius Velos attempted to prevent Aurelius's inauguration. Cavrus unconstitutionally and militarily intervened in the previous Minister Junius Flavus's, handoff of power and Aurelius's induction. This sparked the Etrusian Republic Civil War (a conflict that officially lasted 6 months, but still unofficially goes on to some capacity to this day). (Read: The Etrusian Republic Civil War of 2020)This war split the realm into four factions: The Etrusian Royal Forces (ERF), led by the Basileus Cavrus Axius Velos; the Etrusian Government Forces (EGF), led by the newly elected Minister Aurelius Cascadia and the former Minister Junius Flavus; the Etrusian Tribal Conglomerate (ETC), forces controlled by the Traditionalist provinces (read below) of Junikos and Vehran; and the Republican Military Front (RMF), led by the more Liberal provinces of Sacytha, Masitha, and Raelkuthos.
Aftermath, Reconstruction, and Reorganization
In August, the rebuilding commenced. The former Basil Junius Flavus officially handed off power to Aurelius Cascadia, who would begin a slightly staggered term due to the wartime conditions. Instead of his term ending at the beginning of 2025 (5 years after the original inauguration date), guidelines mandated that he would serve until the beginning of 2026. With his slightly extended term, Aurelius would begin the process of restructuring the political order, rebuilding the provinces and provincial structure, as well as making deals with the Erilis Sovereignty for their involvement in restoring his position as Executive Minister.
- The Arkon would leave office and not be allowed to re-run for Ark. The Arks would also leave office, but would be allowed to be re-elected. Furthermore, the Arkon, for the first time ever, would be elected by the people, not the Arks. This election was to be supervised in limitedly by the federal government.
- Their seats to the Provincial Senate would also be replaced, and the current senators could not be re-elected for this round, but were not barred from future votes. This election was also to be supervised in limited capacity by the Etrusian federal government.
- The coalition formed between the two provinces, the Etrusian Tribal Conglomerate, must be dissolved.
- Junikos and Vehran would be allowed to keep their standing armies, but their sizes must be reduced and they could not be integrated together in any way. Also the current military commanders would need to be replaced. The federal government would also perform regular inspections to ensure this rule is being obeyed.
Repaying the Favor
It was apparent to many Etrusian politicians and citizens that even before the war ended, the Erilis Sovereignty were expecting something in return for their support. The ES had always shown interest in Etrusia, but the previous political climate of the past several decades left their relationships mostly luke-warm. Most of the details between the ES and Aurelius's regime are not known publicly and only held by Aurelius himself and his cabinet. However, strong inferences can be made from the policies the Basil pushed out after the end of the war.For his first order, Aurelius released exclusivity trade mandates where Etrusia's sAI and CmAI development organizations could only do business with organizations of the Erilis Sovereignty.
Continued Tensions
While Aurelius Cascadia's changes, for the most part, helped Etrusia regain some of its strength and prevent the republic from delving into further chaos, or being comrpomised by financial ruin. However, the next 5 years would show that Etrusia was less than unified. For one, despite the fact that Etrusian military forces are supposed to be unified under one banner, many of the provinces still maintained standing armies, generally (unofficially) aligned under the same mid-war factions. Additionally, clashes between the former RNC and ETC provinces break out from time to time between the border of Junikos and Masitha, occassionally requiring Etrusian federal intervention. This sporadic conflict has also bled over into Telus and to the DMZ between Etrusia and the Aurora Federation, resulting in the AF and ES having to respond in some instances, and frustrating the AF. Despite this, Aurelius has yet to deploy and large scale mobilization against those provinces, and has mostly allowed it to fizzle out on its own whenever a flare up occurs. And while the conflict has not spread to much more of Etrusia, there is unease that a provincial conflict could spark another civil war.
Present Day
Etrusia today still remains a large economic power on the continent of Aurora. However, it was downgraded from 3rd to the 4th largest economy in 2023 A.D as its GDP was surpassed by that of Novrisk. Etrusia's economy is still growing, but not to the same degree as pre-civil war Etrusia.Aurelius's term concludes at the beginning of next year (2026 A.D.), in which he has been campaigning for reelection.
Structure
Federal Ministry
This is the executive office of Etrusia, headed by the Executive Minister (or Basil) and accompanied by their cabinet. Like most leaders in Aurora, the Basil is responsible for signing off on legistlation, conducting foreign policy, and attending meetings and adhering to the guidelines of the United Continental Council (UCC). Additionally, apart from administering legistlation passed by the provincial senate, the Basil is also responsible for negotiating with provincial tribal leaders, or Arkons, and signing off on ordinances voted on by them.Provincial Senate
Etrusia's main legistlature for proposing and voting on laws and ordinances is the Provincial Senate. Each province elects senators to the senate, with each province electing the same number of senators, that being 25, bringing the senate to a grand total of 200 members. Legistlation is passed by a majority vote, regardless of provincial affiliation, before it is sent to the Executive Minister. Additionally, each section nominates a section leader, or Vocale via majority vote of each section. They act as discussion ralliers for each section, as well as section speakers. They have no special voting power from any other senator except in the rare occurance of tie-breakers.Over the years, there has been a desire to move away from the provincialism of the senate system and turn towards a more population-based voting system. Most of this originates from more liberal-based factions and provinces. However, while a popular idea, there has yet to be any action towards reshaping the legistlative system of Etrusia.
Etrusia Judiciary and the Provincial Court System
Another one of the abnormalities of the Etrusian government is the court system. Unlike other nations that have tiered court systems (from federal to provincial, etc.), Etrusia consists of solely provincial courts to take up both provincial and federal cases. While potentially an oversight, it was a compromise made by the administration during the formation of the Etrusian republic. Despite this, there is still an elected official for the Federal Judiciary called the Arbitrator who is able to bring up cases on the ministry's behalf and select specific courts to take up the cases. Arbitraters themselves, however, cannot rule on cases. They serve a max term of 10 years, but can be reselcted at the beginning of a new minister's term (however, it is illegal to replace an Arbitrator in the middle of a Minister's term in office).Provincial Tribal Groups
Etrusia consists of 8 main tribal groups. Tribal groups are generally named by the "parent" tribe of the province -- either the eldest tribe in which most other tribes descend from, or the most populous tribe. The 8 groups are:Axsius ─ ( , ) The province from which the previous ruling Basileus, Cavrus Axsius originates from. The tribe that the province is named after is considered the oldest recorded tribe in the history of the Etrusian region (and is considered by some historians to be the parent tribe of all of Etrusia). It is where the capital and most of Etrusia's political infrastructure resides.
Cascadia ─ ( , , ) The province from which the current Mininster (or Basil) Aurelius Cascadia's tribe resides. Despite the province's name coming from the Cascadians, as of 2025 only 35% of Cascadia is from the Cascadian tribe or their child tribes. Cascadia lies on Axsius's west border, and itself lies along the continental-west coast. It is where most of the Etrusian Navy is established, and consists of a large portion of Etrusia's business sector and scientific research, both for AI and for solar and food technologies. Cascadia is a deeply political province where family histories and bureacratic ties mean a lot to status and local political influence.
Telus ─ ( , ) Telus is the 3rd of the Old Three provinces and tribal groups (the three original Etrusian tribes that immigrated to the land now called Etrusia, and the other two being Axsius and Cascadia). Telus is currently the largest tech hub within Etrusia, specifically for AI development. Because of this, it has also become a financial hub for business, both domestic and international. It is also similar to Cascadia socially and culturally.
Junikos ─ ( , ) Junikos is the largest province in Etrusia, and the largest producer of food and solar. It is also the largest provincial purchaser of solar and food tech from Telus and Cascadia, using it to bolster the region's already high production levels and faciliate exports. It is also one of the most traditionally oriented provinces, still maintaining the old family and cultural structures of the Etrusian tribes (to a certain degree).
Vehran ─ ( , ) Vehran is the second largest producer of food and solar, and is also a traditionalist hub. Unlike Junikos and the other provinces, however, Vehran is not a genuine tribal group. It was a family name created during the foundation of the Etrusian Tribal Confederation (the Etrusian entity before the republic), coming from a compromise between two large tribes: the Vekra and the Ranna. Thus, these two tribes joined together mutually, and took on the name Vehran.
Sacytha ─ ( , ) Sacytha is considered the "second cultural epicenter" of Etrusia, but for different reasons. It is seen as the collective of much non-traditional Etrusian ideaology, with more republican-based ideaology. The southern province is seen as a counterbalance to the Royalists up north. It is also an AI-development powerhouse similar to Telus, but not quite on the same scale. They are also a civilian and military production center, and are frequent partners with Vulskaya and Aurora Federation based research firms.
Masitha ─ ( , ) <to edit>
Raelkuthos ─ ( ) <to edit>

─ A hub for political and legal activity
─ A hub for financial and general business activity

Provincial Arkons, Arks, and Provincial Tribunals
As part of the tribal union to form the republic, a uniform system of provincial government needed to be developed. What was developed is called the Tribunal system. Each province is led by a Tribunal in which 8 to 10 leaders are elected as Arks. They operate as pseudo-senators for proposal and passing of local legistlature, as well as additional administrative duties. The Arks also nominate one of their members to be the Arkon, essentially the governor of the province. The idea is that the populace gets to elect their "governor" indirectly, and that a governor that is cognizant of all sides is selected. The role of the Arkon is to govern the province, select administrators for the various local offices, and to propose and negotiate mandates with the Basil. They also have a lot of leverage when it comes to intranational trade deals.
Basileus (Defunct)
The Basileus (otherwise known as the Monarch or King) was the original highest level of authority in the Etrusian Monarchial Republic before the seat's deposition in Q3, 2020 A.D. The last monarch before his deposition was Basileus Cavrus Axsius Velos of the Axsius Tribe. While the whole Axsius tribe is technically tied to the monarchy, for the purpose of separation of powers, only direct descendants of Maxim Axius Velos's line (the original monarch of the Etrusian Tribal Confederacy) had legitamacy to the throne (unless married into the family). As mentioned above, Cavrus and the ruling Velos family was deposed in Q3 2020 A.D. during the Etrusian Civil War, which was sparked after Cavrus unconstitutionally and militarily intervened in Aurelius Cascadia's successful election as Minister. The result of this action was his forces being overwhelmed and him being temporarily detained, until a vote was initiated for the disbandment of the Basileus's political office.
Today, the monarchy is mostly a ceremonial office, where the Basileus performs cultural duties, but holds no political power. However, the Basileus can still endorse candidates, and speak publicly about political matters. This has been seen often with Cavrus, with him even endorsing and aiding the campaign of <<placeholder_pol_1>>, a rival to Aurelius in the 2026 election.
Culture

First-Name • Parent-Tribe─Tribe-Name • Family-Name (Example: Loba Telus─Flavus Tivanus)
Of course, there are variations. For example, if they are a direct descendant of the parent tribe, their name would go as:
First-Name • Parent-Tribe
(Example: Loba Telus)
Where it can be tricky is when a person is either from a parent tribe with a different family name, or posseses the name of a child tribe. This is where dash comes into play, pronounced un (meaning "of", but in reverse possession) in Etrusian spoken language.
For example, if someone posseses the name of their child tribe, it goes as follows:
First-Name • Parent-Tribe─Tribe-Name
(Example: Loba Telus─Flavus, pronounced Loba Telus un Flavus, meaning "Loba Flavius-of-Telus)
And the final example would be the former -- if they are from a parent tribe with a differing family name. This would lack the dash and the use of un:
First-Name • Parent-Tribe • Family-Name
(Example: Loba Telus Tivanus)
As with this, there are a few more exceptions that can be read about here. This includes instances where someone is not part of a tribe, or in the very rare case of the use of a non-tribal middle name, and etc.

Public Agenda
The majority of the Etrusian people wish for their state to preserve it's relatively recent tribal union and promote stability wihtin its borders. Furthermore, they hope that their current technological advancements and industry can strengthen both their economy and project their influence as a major power on the continental stage, as well as protect their independence.
Royalists ─ These are the groups loyal to the original ruling family. They wish for the return on the old monarchial system, although opinions are mixed on to what extent of authority they wish the monarch to possess.
Cascadians ─ These are the groups loyal to the ministry of Aurelius Cascadia, or at least the Cascadia tribal group and family-line. Some are pro-Erilis support, while some are against it. There are also mixed opinions about the former monarchy, but most tend to be in support of the new republic structure, or at least with a Cascadian being in charge of it.
Traditionalists ─ These are the groups that wish to return Etrusia to one of it's former, more traditional structures: either like the previous tribal confederation with a Basileus, or having the tribal groups self-govern. They also wish to reduce federal power and give more power to the provinces/tribal groups in the already semi-decentralized Etrusia.
Liberals ─ These are the groups that wish to maintain the republic and expanded, as well as keep the monarchy abolished. Many also wish to shape the tribal provincial systems to more democratic methods, although to the extent of the change varies from person to person.
Erilis Loyalists ─ The smallest (and generally more radical) group by far, but these groups still show their prescence. They are the people that wish to have the Erilis Sovereignty's ties with Etrusia grow stronger -- whether that be anywhere from vassalship to full on annexation depends on the group.
Philosophies and politcal beliefs within these groups can vary significantly in some cases, and there is overlap between some of these groups as well.
Many of the provinces are also split between certain groups, but much of the more concentrated populuses are regional. The breakdown goes roughly as following (as of 2024).
Axsius ─ Axsius is overwhelmingly in the Royalist camp, with a large majority (>70%) of its citizens supporting parties and policies in favor of the former Axsius and the Axsius tribal line. There are also many who identify (and overlap with) the beliefs of Traditionalists, supporting the Monarchial structure, albeit not as much in tune with the modern state structure, or who dislike the Axsius family. The rest of the populace belong to various of the above ideaologies, but there is a sizable Cascadian affiliation in Axsius, especially after the Basileus's deposition.
Cascadia ─ Despite the Cascadian tribal group being on the decline, the Cascadian loyalist groups still main a majority in politics in Cascadia. However, there is still a strong prescence of groups from the Liberal and Traditional categories (support for the Royalists had been dwindling since the previous Cascadian minister's outting during the Strait of Magellan Incident).
Telus ─ <<Has a decent mix of Cascadians and Liberal groups, with a declining Royalist group after the civil war>>
Junikos ─ <<Strong traditionalist population with some ties to the Cascadians via Telus. Maintains good relations with basileus and old ally Vehran>>
Vehran ─ <<Strong traditionalist population with strong ties to the Royalists and loyalty to the Velos as well>>
Sacytha ─ Sacytha maintains a very strong population of Liberal factions. The people of Sacytha, as well as much of the younger Sacytha family have long opposed the more authoritarian ruling structure of the Royalists and Traditionalists, while also rejecting the economic and social policies of the Royalists and Cascadians.
Masitha ─ <<Strong liberal faction, maintains strong relation with Sacytha and Raelkuthos>>
Raelkuthos ─ <<Strong liberal faction, but with some Cascadian influence. Staunchly anti-Royalist>>

While there are several political groups and affiliaitons within Etrusia, most of them are grouped into 5 main categories. Foreign Relations
The Etrusians have some skepticism about their neighors, like the Erilis Sovereignty, the Aurora Federation (AF), Zenaida and <4th nation>. Some see Erilis as potential ally, while others see them as opportunistic expansionist trying to exploit their neighbors. Opinions are also mixed about the AF, which many see as totalitarian in treatment of its neighbors and its influence over the United Continental Council (UCC). Others, however, have seen the good that organizations from the AF have done for Etrusia, and wish to maintain at least luke-warm relations with them. (Continue w/ Zenaida).
Etrusia has a relatively good relationship with the UCC, as well as some of the other nations within it. However, the somewhat recent Strait of Magellan Incident, along with the nation's longstanding internal flare-ups, have hurt some of Etrusia's foreign relations. The civil war caused by the SoM Incident bled over into the Aurora Federation several times, requiring the AF to establish a hard and secured border between the two nations.
As the years have gone by, and the nations of Aurora have made contact with the outside world, the attitude towards Etrusia has turned more positively (for the most part). To show a gesture of goodwill (and to avoid war), the Basileus Velos and Lauren's successor as Basil, Junius Flavus, agreed to the UCC mandates. These mandates included things such as the UCC overseeing the operation of Etrusia's navy, and for Etrusia to structure themselves to ensure conflict would not impact food or energy exports (as Etrusia had been the solar and "breadbasket" of Aurora for a time.) Additionally, they made economic deals to provide indoor food growing technology and new solar developments prorated to UCC nations that wished to trade with them.

Strait of Magellan Incident
The Strait of Magellan Incident occured in 2014 when the Executive Ministry launched a naval excursion to outside of the UCC-mandated ocean boundaries. In an attempt to alleviate internal pressures from the Basileus and tension from other UCC nations, Basil Lauren Cascadia launched Etrusian Navy ships to land in Argentina to expose the existence of Aurora itself. It succeeded in forcing the UCC to come into contact with the outside world, and helped rally domestic support for Cascadia. However, it only worsened Etrusia's foreign relations significantly, as well as resulting in Lauren's arrest and subsequent removal from power. Many nations cut political and economical ties with Etrusia, with some even threatening a blockade or invasion. Some members even drafted a resolution to remove Etrusia from the UCC, but both never came to fruition. However, in response to a preemptive strike on the Aurora Federation by Etrusian Royalist sympathizers (as the AF had been deploying forces to the border in case an invasion was necessary), the AF put up a solid border wall between the two nations, which exists to this day.As the years have gone by, and the nations of Aurora have made contact with the outside world, the attitude towards Etrusia has turned more positively (for the most part). There are three core pillars of the Etrusian economy:
Etrusia is also a large exporter of lumber, utilizing its advanced production technologies to rapidly grow and harvest trees.
- Energy Production - Etrusia is one of the largest producers of energy for Aurora, particularly in solar. It is also one of the leading producers of solar technology -- researching, developing, and exporting state-of-the-art building, street, and other multi-platorm solar panel systems. This tech allows for the discreet and mass-scale deployment of solar absorbing systems in a variety of environments: from cities, to suburbs to even rural areas. These widescale and easily deployable systems, with their unmatched collection efficiency, allow for an easy and mainstreamed way of keeping up with the increasing power needs of Aurora's most advanced and technologically dependent cities.
- Food Production - Etrusia is the largest exporter of food and raw food materials. Being one of the most fertile regions in Aurora, it naturally allows for the easy development of farms. Furthermore, apart from its solar developments, Etrusia is one of the lead developers of Interior Food Production -- large facilities both above and underground designed to grow food under artificial conditions. Combining its solar tech and abundance of natural resources for growing food, Etrusia has made the production of traditionally farmable food compact, efficient, and able to be deployed in a majority of places, not just traditional rural locations.
