Memorial Speech Given in the Aftermath of the Exodus

This article is a work in progress!

This speech was given by leader of the House High Councillor Lapis the day after the Exodus, an event in which 18 of the 26 members of the 21st Itera became affected by The Burn and were transferred en masse to Azure Town.

Purpose

The purpose of the speech was to remember the Variants who had been lost in the prime of their life, and provide words of solace to their families and loved ones, as well as the 21st Itera Variants left behind.

Memorial Speech Given in the Aftermath of the Exodus

My fellow Variants, it is with a heavy heart that I address you all today. Yesterday, we as a community experienced what is perhaps the largest mass affliction of the Burn in the history of our people. Unfortunately, this affliction fell upon our youngest working members, the 21st Itera. I would like to take this moment to thank the Medics and all those who rallied together to support them. Thanks to you, all eighteen of the Burned Variants survived the transfer to Azure Town. I believe I speak on behalf of all of us when I say that you have our deepest gratitude for preventing the tragedy this could have become. Your efforts will not be forgotten.
Nonetheless, we have all suffered a great loss. Many families now have a hole where their sibling should be, a void that can never be filled. Others have lost friends and colleagues who enriched the lives of those they helped. All of us have lost their spark, their energy, the passion that comes from youth and that can - and does - change the world. Their light has gone where we cannot follow, and we are much poorer for it.
