The Endless Forest

The Mowic-Forest is the biggest forest in all of Aurodia. It was home to the elves a long time ago, but since they were driven out the Humans are the dominant species in the forest as well. In the middle of the forest is a big castle called "Crabhard" which is home to the proud House Deilen. The people that live in the forest are calling themselves "Gwyll" and claim to be the oldest ethnical group of the human race.

Geography

The Mowic-Forest is by far the most significant woodland in all of Aurodia. There are two rivers, one in the East and one in the West that always give the forest enough water to flourish throughout the whole year. They also set up a natural border for it to grow. Even though the forest loses most of his leaves in the winter, there are still a lot of herbs and berry bushes growing even in the coldest of days. The woods of the Mowic-Forest are so big that they occupy a quarter of the habitable space of Aurodia. The forest also goes into the hills and the mountain range in the Southeast. Naturally, the wood would even spread out toward the North until it would reach the Kaelin-River, but it was cut down by the inhabitants of Kaelinsburg to build villages there and use the land as farmlands because of it's fertile soil.

Fauna & Flora

The tall trees and shady meadows of the Mowic-Forest are home to an immense amount of versatile wildlife. Some of them are rather friendly or even domesticable like the Ceir (which are a kind of deer) but most of them are fairly vicious. Even though most of these wicked beasts are animals like bears of wolves, there are also some more sentient creatures like the Lamigyns or the Bhàn, spirits of the forest, that try to protect it. But the most popular of this forest is, of course, the Mowic itself: A huge griffin-like creature that lives in the woods and feasts on the fools that try to go near it.
Some may believe that there is some sort of deity in the densest part of the forest, that protects it, but there is no proof for that.

Natural Resources

Naturally, there is a large amount of wood available for people that live near or in the forest. It is said, that some of the tall and old oaks of the forest consist out of the best wood in all of Aurodia. It is so hard that you can't cut down one of these trees with standard tools. You have to use magical spells to cut them down. Another thing the Mowic-Forest is famous for is the high quality of herbs you can get there. They are even one of the components for the best medicine in the known world. But that's not all the forest has to offer: The ground of these woods is considered one of the most fertile and therefore best places to plant crops. That's why many people in the East and West have started to settle near the forest.
