These spectral entities are born of evil and darkness. They carry lanterns that glow with an eerie blue light. Lantern wraiths are known to linger in places of mass death and destruction. Generally these wraiths act of their own malevolent will, however some powerful beings have been known to bind them to their will.
These spectral figures have long spindly arms with hands and fingers longer than those of a normal humanoid. Their heads are typically the skull of a dear or other animal, with glowing blue orbs for eyes.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Their unusual nature allows them to not need to eat, drink, or sleep.
Being incorporeal creatures has granted these creatures with a multitude of resistances and immunities. They are resistant to bludgeoning, slashing, and piercing damage from non magical weapons. Lantern wraiths are immune to necrotic and poison damage, and cannot be afflicted with any of the following conditions; charmed, exhaustion, frightened, grappled, paralyzed, petrified, prone, and restrained.
Generally these vile creatures have above average intelligence and are exceptionally cunning.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Being creatures of darkness and shadow, they can see exceptionally well in the dark. Additionally, they can see a short distance into the ethereal plane from the material plane and vice versa.

Major Language Groups and Dialects
While they do not typically speak most understand common and the languages they knew in life. Some more advanced and powerful lantern wraiths have been known to speak in cold, rasping phrases.
Common Dress Code
Typically these wraiths are shrouded in dark robes with various chains and lanterns hanging off them, many carry glaives or other slashing weapons.
The most powerful of these lantern wraiths have an ability known as a Deathgaze, paralyzing a creature with fear and draining their vitality, eventually leading to death. This is a power on top of their Aura of Annihilation, an aura that radiates with necrotic energy that surrounds them emanating from one of their lanterns. additionally these powerful lantern wraiths have a Withering Gaze that withers an targets vitality with necrotic energy. The lesser lantern wraiths have an ability known as Foretelling Touch, which psychically assaults the target and weakens their ability to fight back and withstand the wraiths attacks. Pulling from the desolation and suffering they have the ability to inflict Suffering Echoes, into the psyche of their targets. These echoes flood their targets mind with waves of painful memories that leap from the target to its companions invading their psyches as well.
Despite their incorporeal form they are rather strong and agile.
