Ald Throng

Ald Throng (meaning Old Gathering in common) is an annual dwarven festival celebrated in Karak Lok.
It is a time of great celebration and merriment for the dwarves of Karak Lok. The festival takes place in their mountain homes, where the dwarves gather to honour their ancestors and celebrate the abundant resources of their mountain home.   The main event of Ald Throng is a grand feast, held in the main dining hall. The feast features an array of delicious dwarven dishes, including roast boar, braised yak, and steaming stews made with hearty root vegetables and spices. Of course, no dwarven feast would be complete without copious amounts of ale, mead and other potent brews.   As the evening wears on, the dwarves gather around the fire pit in the centre of the main dining hall to share stories and songs. The fire pit is a sacred place, and only the most skilled bards and musicians are allowed to perform there. The dwarves believe that the spirits of their ancestors can hear their songs and stories when performed near it.   Ald Throng is also a time for the dwarves to engage in friendly competitions and games, such as stone-lifting, axe-throwing, and wrestling. The winners of these contests are celebrated and receive great honour and acclaim from their fellow dwarves.   In the days leading up to Ald Throng, the dwarves spend hours preparing for the festival.
They clean and polish their weapons and armour, mend their clothing, and practice music and stories. Ald Throng is a time of great joy and camaraderie for the dwarves and they look forward to it all year long.
