Adventurer's Hunting License

This license is required if an individual wants to hunt wild creatures of Aufyra. "Hunting" includes chasing, capturing, or killing beasts.   While a civilian doesn't require a license to be called an "adventurer", hunting creatures is widely considered an adventurer-specific task. Adventuring guilds and hubs are typically located near an Ignis license facility, and they work together to uphold license law.   Even with a permit, an adventurer is only allowed to hunt within its established limits. Specific species are allowed a certain amount of hunts a year, and each individual adventurer has their own hunting cap. This number varies wildly depending on the species.   Ecologists survey creature populations yearly to see how their numbers are doing, and the number of hunts allowed can change to reflect this.

Historical Details

Background

Following the Years of Exploration, countless animal species across Aufyra suffered from population decline. In order to help the populations bounce back, laws were put in place to protect them.   During the Years of Exploration, thousands of newly-declared adventurers battled wild creatures to hone their strength. Be it common field-dwellers or giant beasts hidden in caves, adventures culled everything in their path for the sake of experience. It was a common practice to seek fights with monsters to prepare for more difficult battles in the future, but with no restrictions or thoughts of conservation, many species were driven close to extinction.   Before the discovery of The Artifact and the close of the Years of Exploration, concerned citizens began to note the empty wilderness surrounding them. Humans that relied on wild game to feed themselves struggled and nearly starved.   Once humans started to feel the effects, the Kingdom of Ignis finally heeded the pleas of its concerned ecologists, and drafted laws to protect wildlife.
