Underneath the Jot, the blackwater river that cuts the city of Atramentum in two, a dozen undead drowned gangsters cluster - weighed down by their cement shoes to keep them on the riverbed. Hencore Ranx is one of these victims of the Cold Hand.
Once an Orc but now an undead mummy, his flesh decayed and mummified by his time spent at the icy depths of the river, Hencore now spends his piteous unlife alongside his fellow victims peering into the icy underwater corridor that leads to the Obol Casino.

On the Force
Ranx was a young rookie cop working for the Atramentum Metropolitan Police. In 1927, he was tasked with investigating certain illegal operations being run by Evan Montecristo, the Kingpin of the Cold Hand mob.
He subsequently went missing and his current state as one of the mummies weighed down at the bottom of the Jot indicates that, unable to convince him to back down in his investigation, the undead mobsters cemented his feet and threw him into the river.
