Telk

Telk has some of the most concentrated biodiversity on the planet. The heavy jungle coverage which encompasses the majority of the island hides many ancient structures, strange creatures, and secrets waiting to be discovered.

Geography

Telk is the largest single island in Atoria. It encompasses multiple uniquie biomes but is primarily covered in a massive jungle. The northern coast of Telk is largely swampy across multiple barrier islands as well as the interior sea has a marshy quality making it the perfect host to the more amphbious races which reside in that area.
Off the Northern coast are various islands of increibly high elevations causing a whole range of biomes as one scales these mountains.
The center inland sea holds an smaller island in its center which holds the World Tree of Telk which large roots go down into the inland sea coming up in areas forming multiple island chains in its center leading outward to the larger island surrounding it.
Telk has the most abundant water fall anywhere on the Material Plane, likely due to the large amount of Water Elemental energies that remain from their intial colonization.

Ecosystem

Telk has some of the most diverse ecosystems on Atoria. Its wide jungle allow for many species that reside in it to stay hidden and live among each other with little interaction across the island. The tall peaks of the northern mountains have allowed for creatures to fill almost every niche in almost every biome available.

Ecosystem Cycles

Telk has a fairly stable tempature not widely shifting throughout the year. This causes most cycles of change to be tied to the flow of magical energies from the World Tree at its center.

Localized Phenomena

There are times of torrential downpour on Telk, it is not know its cause but believed to be tied to random portals opening to the Plane of Water.
When The World Tree at Telk's center reachs its peak magical flow causes strange magical phenomena to pop up around the island.
The Swamps of Telk often deal with flooding events which can cause cities built by the amphibious races to be completely underwater for whole periods of the year.

Climate

Telk has a largely stable climate except for the time of extreme flooding that can cause whole cities to fall underwater.

Fauna & Flora

Being the most biodiverse location on the planet it is impossible to name all of the animals and plants that reside on this group of islands.
The most noticible of these however is a group of large reptiles, Dinosaurs. These reptiles unlike Dragon do not appear particularly intellgent, nor possess any known magic. The vast majority of them do not have the ability to fly and they are completely exclusive to the island of Telk.

Various intellgent races call Telk home including:
Saurian: The Reptilian & Amphibian like Animaga races. These creatures also widely resemble the Dinosaurs that are exclusive to Telk.
Yuan-Ti: These race of Snake-like Humanoids seemed to have once had a massive empire on the island of Telk and possibliy beyond. It is unknown what caused their downfall.
Goliath: This race of large humanoid live primarily on the mountainous island chain to the north of Telk. They share various similarities with Giants but are much smaller in size.
Whoever various other peoples have colonized this island for a multitude of reasons. Including but not limited to:
Human: Primarily in the settlement of Fronteir.
Tiefling: One of the two major races settling the smaller center island holding the World Tree of Telk.
Silvan: The second major race settling at the base of the World Tree.

These multiple races cause Telk to be a lively place regardless of its small size compared to Aris or Frostmor.

Natural Resources

Telk is teaming with natural resources for rare metals, to its abundant / fast growing plant life, and its rare animals.
However, some of the most titillating resources recovered from Telk is the strange ancient magics and knowledge of the Yuan-Ti.
The Yuan-Ti's knowledge seems to predate the assumed Great Collapse which is suspected to have ended the world as it was known. It is unknown if this caused the collapse of their civilzation aswell or some other event made it fall at a later point.

History

The Yuan-Ti are believed to be the original inhabitats of Telk and its surrounding islands. They built a great empire possibliy covering the entire island and beyond.
At some point an event caused the fall of their empire.
There was then a great influx of Earth Elementals and Water Elementals to the island chain. These colonist diversied into the Saurian races and spread to every inch of the islands.
Following this the Goliath ancestors arrived taking up resident in the mountains north of the main island.
After all of these races had been established for several thousand years the island was discovered by druid explorers learning of the World Tree at its center and taking it into their care and defence.
A few hundred years later the human settlement of Frontier would be established.
