The Stories of Grothkrokg, the missing. (Grot-grog)

Every now and then, you may start a raid and immediately hear a thundering shockwave. Like someone dropped a Cycler from the sky. And then, you will find a beast or monster cleaved dead on the spot as if something heavy fell on it. Just a small distance from your landing place. Wound fresh. Nothing indicating what could have caused that.
Feel free to harvest the carcass, as it is a gift from the greatest Raider who ever existed.
And if you want to thank him, just spread a fairytale or two about him.

Summary

Almost any Raider on Atocitera ever heard at least one variation of story of Grothkrokg.
Raider with a gold heart, pure intentions, and strength beyond the achievements of many others. Always starting Raid by cleaving some massive target dead on the spot with his sword and the momentum of the controlled fall.   His style of hunting always left very noticeable marks not only on his target but also on the surrounding.
But these marks of the Grothkrokg hunting style remained even centuries after Grothkrokg disappeared.
This causes people to believe that either Grothkrokg's soul or he himself remain on The Ground below, and continues providing for people of Atocitera.

Basis

Grothkrokg was a mighty, strong Raider who was delivering deadly blows to beasts and monsters. Blows so strong that their echo was scaring inhabitants on the Ground below at miles. When his time during Tournament of minds arrived, he was already well recognized. Not for his facial features, but for his trusty sword and pure golden heart.
His Everend was a heavy sword that no one else could use effectively if they even lifted it in the first place.
At first, everyone thought he was so pure, that Corruption could not hurt him. He could walk through the mist of raw Corruption without being affected.
His love for good hunting knew no bounds, and people later started fearing that his Corrupted limit was tied to his desire to hunt and that it will sooner or later bring him to challenge something out of his league.
Grothkrokg however knew his bounds and always delivered enough meat for a feast, always cared for his comrades, and was effectively shining hope for everyone around him.   A few more years after the Tournament of minds during which his fame and stories spread all around Atocitera, he suddenly vanished during a raid. He and his friends encountered a very concentrated fog of Corruption. Grothkrokg decided to channel the Corruption, stopping it from pursuing the group and allowing his untainted friends to escape.
His friends, not looking back, though he was with them the whole time. But when they got back to the Atocite, they could not find him   He was never seen again, yet his stories live on.
And perhaps he does through them.

Variations

During the years, people started creating variations of what could be behind the beasts and monsters killed in the same way Grothkrokg used to.
It all started with people believing it is his pure soul, separated from his body doing the thing it enjoyed during life.
From that, a theory, that he became cursed and has to hunt forever sprouted, but only a few believe that because he was never seen.
Instead, another variation, claimed, that he was simply so strong, that his hits echo through time itself, and occasionally slay a thing or two. Some believe this, even though there has been a killed beast every single time the striking echo appeared.

Spread

During Grothkrokg's time, his Atocite lived in abundance and prosperity. Thanks to this suddenly increased trade potential, other Atocites started being curious about Grothkrokg, even inviting him numerous times to move to a different Atocite, better suited for him. Even though he was from a smaller Atocite, he was invited to the Tournament of minds. During his participation, he showed strength comparable to self-augmented Vioktills, but was outmaneuvered by more agile Raiders.   People however noticed him and the fact he was not a member of a Grand Atocite raised even more questions.
Answer to these questions were rumors about his raiding prowess, which then spread over the whole Atocitera like a wildfire.
Truth
The truth is, Grothkrokg is still alive, but Corruption altered how he is perceived by people.
People perceive him as a muscular Raider with a large and heavy sword, but they never seem to place a name on him or his weapon.
No one seems to remember him unless looking directly at him and everyone forgets his existence the moment they stop looking. Any suspicion of him is dispelled by his natural aura that makes people feel he simply belongs.
The most important thing is that even when people are looking directly at him, they are unable to connect the stories of Grothkrokg to him.
