Fraj Ugan Condition in Atir-Namorn | World Anvil

Fraj Ugan (fɾaɟ uˈgan)

Fraj Ugan, or inside mind in the common tongue, is a neurological disorder that alters the brain. This alteration manifests in many different ways--there are at least as many ways as there are people with Fraj Ugan.   Those with Fraj Ugan process the world differently. This can translate to the ability to learn quickly, to express deeply, and to understand the world on a deeper level because of a willingness to look.   Not all of what Fraj Ugan brings to the table is beneficial, however. This disorder brings with it a hypersensitivity to input. For some, this can be a small or rare issue, but for others...for others it can cause them to shut down and recede into themselves for protection. Protection from the world that is just too full of information, too full of inputs.   In addition to the onslaught of inputs one may be forced to endure--or at least try to endure--is the comorbidity rate of other maladies. One can have issues ranging from pain in the joints to depression and anxiety.   For some of those with Fraj Ugan, life is a daily struggle. Their comorbidities weighing them down with pain and sadness; the input from the world impacting them so strongly, so viciously, that they cannot breathe; and yet still their mind creates wonders.   That is what keeps many going. The ability to take thought and turn it into reality. While this is not reserved for those with Fraj Ugan, they are savants--masters of their crafts.   This double-sided disorder is seen by some as a blessing, but most...most see it as something to be feared and dreaded, hoping one day that they might be rid of it all together.   All the same, I do not believe I would be myself if I did not have Fraj Ugan, that is just how life altering this lifetime disorder can be.

I recognized it immediately. I agree particularly with the "willingness to look"--so often I feel like I notice things, make connections, that people around me don't see. While I am one who is able to consider it a blessing, I know that my experience is different. Thank you for sharing yours.
