Session 17: A Rat in the Hand

General Summary

After their terse argument with Ve'dek, our heroes nail down more of the plan to rescue U'la Grimhound from the clutches of the Lords of A'mashara. William Grimhound asks Ve'dek for help protecting Cheer, the bartender at the Broken Scabbard and Ve'dek says she will try to get a message to Viktor Beauvaine to get her out of the city. Returning to the streets of A'mashara, our heroes split momentarily: Loanedth heads off to find a wheel of cheese to repay the rats of Rat Alley, while the others head to Gary's Medical Aids to get a prosthetic for William.
While travelling, William, Nil-enor Ulkas and Gul'Khaan encounter some would-be thieves, preying on the fear of the city guard, who attempt to scare some coin out of the trio. They are unsuccessful, as William quickly recognizes that their uniforms are wrong, and the thieves are scared off. Inside Gary's, they meet the gnomish owner, who sells William a replacement arm in exchange for a bottle of elven brandy, and a promise to send a message to Lord Yularran, who killed his sister.
While Loanedth is looking for the largest wheel of cheese on the market, they encounter a drowish woman in a green cloak, who converses in Thieves Cant with the rogue. They agree to meet, and after Loanedth picks up the wheel of goblin cheese, they meet in a back alley with the drow. They do not reveal a great deal of information, but offer a job with the mysterious Encarta family, should they wish it. While they can be found at a butchery in Egmire in A'mashara, Encarta has members across the continent.
Loanedth rolls the cheese, stealthily, across the city, and delivers it to the overjoyous rats. One in particular chooses to follow Loanedth, and is named Legendairy Brie. They meet the group as Gary finishes adjusting the prosthetic, a silver-coloured metallic arm, that resembles an armoured gauntlet.
The group head to a local smithery, where they meet an elven woman who sells them some gnomish-designed weapons to replace the ones lost in the building collapse. They then go to a boutique, where a halfling man insists on dressing Loanedth up, and gives them a new outfit free of charge, in exchange for their myconid look: he insists it'll be the next big look. Finally, the party calls an early night at a cheap tavern, the Fancy Chestnut. Tomorrow night is the wedding. The stars are aligned and the stage is set.
The show must go on.
