Session 14: A Corrupt Arm of the Government

General Summary

Our story this day began with a reminder of the past; William Grimhound, only a year prior, visiting his daughter U'la Grimhound. Walking through the streets of A'mashara, he would have no idea of the changes the city would undergo, focused entirely on the happieness of his beloved daughter. When his visit ended, it was with a promise that they would see each other soon.
Fast forward, and our party sees the grim city of A'mashara, now a totalitarian nightmare, ruled by corrupt lords and abusive city guards. Hoping to gain entrance by walking in, a lieutenant places the party under arrest, and beats William for talking back.
The group are lead into the city, where William is given a rude awakening that the city he once knew as his daughter's home has a deep forbeing feeling of darkness. When the group is taken down a back alley and into an unmarked building, where three black-robed figures talk to the guards about interrogations of the prisoners. When the guards move to take away Gul'Khaan, the dragonborn, unable to see, lashes out. William sees a greatsword headed in the direction of Gul, and takes the hits, and the bound party finds themselves embroiled in a nasty fight.
William rages, and shatters the shakles he's wearing and draws a hidden dagger, and makes quick work of several guards. Loanedth  effortlessly picks the lock of the cuffs with one of their hidden daggers, and tries to work on the other guards. Gul struggles with the shakles, but manages to let loose a few eldritch blasts. And when one of the black-robed figures tries a spell, its effects are cancelled by Gul'khaan's counterspell.
Nil-enor Ulkas struggles to get the shackles off, and an intial attempt to cast a spell is lost when the chain pulls taut. Fortunatly, his hidden armour protects him from a brunt of damage. The others are not so lucky: William, Gul'khaan and Loanedth all suffer grievous injuries during the fight, and for a moment, its not sure who will win the fight.
But a spy decides the answer is no-one, and destroys one of the buildings support collumns, quickly triggering a collapse. A half-elven spy shows some doubts at their colleague's actions, and William attempts to talk him into leaving the building. Loanedth and Gul'khaan book it out of the building, leaving behind their weaponry, and Nil-enor throws himself at one of the guards to allow for escape. Before William can leave however, the spy reveals a stick of dynamite on his chest. "For the Lords!" he declares, before everything goes dark.
When the dust settles, Loanedth and Gul'khaan look upon the rubble of this former building, and with Loanedth feeling the fading life signs of their friends, they begin digging. Found first is Nil-enor, whose unconcious body is dragged out. Gul continues digging while Loanedth tries to check Nil-enor out. But the mycondid finds no life signs, and declares him dead. Shook by trauma, and a sickly reminder of the past, Loanedth tries something they haven't tried in some time: using reanimating spores on the corpse. The spores don't take, and it turns out Loanedth's declaration of time of death was premature. With the last of their health potions, Loanedth revives Nil-enor. When Gul finds a red-skinned hand, the other two help dig out William's body. Nil-enor speaks a sorrowful prayer to Ephine, and William arrises. His pounding head and battered ribs take in his surroundings, alive through a miricle. But William does not recover all; his left arm has been torn off at the shoulder, and the tiefling falls unconcious in shock. This may be the bounty hunter-turned-adventurer's last ride.
